Some People

Some people are waiting 
To see you fall .
Some people  are waiting 
To see you quit .
You can not change 
People 
But you can pray .
You can tell them the truth every day .
You can love them .
You can forgive them and feel free

I Am No Good

Your mother said I was no good
For you .
I am old now with a poor man's wallet,
Because of your mother .
I wish I could hold your hand 
And wish you would hold my hand .
One more time ,
But that is I guess that is no more 
Not even in my dream .
It is too late for you and me 
Because your mother has you 
In the palm of her hand .
She tore my heart .
Today I do not look down .
I look ahead .
At my age today ,
If someone is a problem 
I get them out of my mind .
I never take anything for granted  .
Life is too short
Oh to know who I am today 
Not what or who I was years ago .

Sit and Remember

 Some days I just sit 
And remember .
I am not afraid to get 
Back up again today 
And try again to live again 
And dream again .
I will not let one hard lesson 
Harden my heart no more .
I sit here and remember 
The pain that makes me stronger today 
And the fear that makes me braver 
And the heartbreak that makes me
Wiser sitting here in my chair 
This cold rainy day .

A Father Will Forgive

His child will sometimes scream out of the blue .
At times she will disappoint 
And she is never hiding ,
When she needs something .
She does what she wants .
She never thinks about the cost 
Of what she has done .
She will do what she wants anyway  .
She does not care as long as she 
Gets what she wants .
She will steal , cheat , lie like hell ,
She will say and do 
And get what she wants 
Whatever the cost .
It is hard for me to breathe 
When she is around .
A father can forgive 
But never forget  ,
Even when his hearts strings 
Are ripped apart .
She has never apologized  
For anything .
Today her father feels a soft breeze 
For someday everything will be okay .
As for today she does not know
That life is to short ,
I hope she realizes it some day 
Before her father dies .

He Always Stood Alone

You would see him in a dance hall
Like a wallflower 
Because no oneworld dance with him .
He loved to dance the horse .
As he got older  ,
He has trouble walking 
Main street and it is almost silent these days .
He would go into his favorite bar 
And have some green tea 
And call everyone smiley  .
He would speak too loud 
But they would not say quiet .
When it was time for him to go 
He would grab the bar
To help him get up on his feet .
When he walked 
He could not step back 
If he did 
He would land on his but  .
He always walked along 
He thought 
But he never did 
Because Jesus is with him always .
Jesus knew he prayed whenever 
He had to talk to Jesus .
He still listens to the all night radio
Alone with Jesus .

To Endure

God has assured us of his presence .
He made us the way we are .
When something happens 
That reminds us of God's loving presence ,
Let us sing and smile joyfully 
To the Lord .
Give thanks to him 
Whose kindness endures forever .

Life Has Taught

At my age I am not hard to love 
Just hard to fool.
Some people are going to reject me 
Simply because I shine too bright 
For them and that is okay .
I will keep smiling and shining 
Inside and out  .
Life has taught me 
That I can not choose 
How long  someone stays
In my life .
I can only be grateful
For the memories 
They left behind .
