Seasons of Pain

I have had my share of pain 
I have lived through anguish ,
Despair  and heartbreak .
In these moments  ,
I have felt the presence
And comfort of God .
Unlike any other times
In my life .
When those experiences pass,
I sure am thankful for the peace .
A part of my misses 
The closeness I felt to God 
In my seasons of pain .

Oh What Could Happen

I have spent many years 
Of my life 
Preparing myself for what could 
Go wrong .
But now I leave room 
In my heart 
For what could go beautiful right .
Now that I am much older  ,
Every day holds something 
To be thankful for .
Even if it is just the air I breathe ,
Or the sun on my face 
As I just sit  outside by myself .
I know gratitude does not have to be grand ,
It lives in the little moments 
That make my life beautiful .

I know love grows
After someone dies .
Everyone should feel that they 
All have a beautiful soul .
Never take anything for granted .
I have discovered some strength
In everyone I know .
I can breathe into a smile 
Then cry .
When I look around I can learn something .

Some people and children before I expire  .

Time Goes By

In a blink of an eye
Life will change 
In so many ways .
Years ago we were all a family .
Everyone looked out for everyone .
We played and drank together .
We need to get back together 
Like the good old days 
And take care of each other 
Instead of breaking each other down .
We all may be broken down .
Over time 
But we need each other more .
Remember we all are like broken 
Crayons ,
When a crayon brakes 
There is still color to share with everyone .

Life Is Ironic

At my age today 
I know it takes sadness
To know happiness.
Each day is a new blessing .
It takes noise to appreciate silence .
Oh the memories I have created 
Will always stay with me .
Oh how time flies by .
A lot of things in my life 
Will eventually fade away .
One day I may be just 
A memory to my grandson.
I hope he remembers me 
As someone who deeply loved him .

My New Niece

You are so loved .
You are somebody's 
Reason to smile .
You take petty 
To a whole new level .
I may be lucky 
To see you 
For just a while .
When you go outside
And play 
And you go pick 
Some daffodils
For your mom one day.
No matter how old you are 
The flowers that you pick 
And all those daffodils 
Around you 
Will not glow 
Like my little niece

A Child

When a child leaves me without saying goodby 
That ordinary day 
Becomes the day that changed everything for me .
I know I need to keep picking myself up .
I keep reaching for the phone to call 
Then I remember , he will no longer answer .
The world keeps moving ,
But part of my heart stays back 
To when you left .
Some pain never fades .
I simply learn to carry 
It with tears hidden

I know missing you

God wants to hear from us .

To Allow

I try not to allow myself 
To become to busy 
With surviving that I forget 
How to truly live .
At my age today I do not see
To well ,
But I want to follow the Lord's 
Foot steps .
Life is not only about responsibilities 
And routines ,
I need to control my controlables .
It is also about finding reasons 
To laugh and smile 
And sharing moments
With loved ones 
And appreciating the beauty
