Hen Pheasant

I remember watching the hen invite
Her babies to shelter in her feathers 
In the ditch as I drove by .
At my age today I know I 
Can find peace and rest in the refuge 
That God offers me ..
Sometimes I forget that no matter
What fear I have God is waiting 
For me to accept the invitation
To come and find refuge 
And peace under his wings .

Miller High School

 

I got this flag to support youth football for the Miller school.

I am proud to fly this flag because I went to school in Miller

over 50 years ago.

Oh the memories and brothers and sisters I got to know while in school and beyond.

I remember The Smallest And The Mightiest School.

To those who graduated years ago and those who graduate this week

remember the memories.

Yesterday

What happened yesterday ,
May not happen again  .
We say wrong things ,

She Took It All

We have skipped meals .
We have cried in the shower .
I have made it this far .
I made it through the worst .
Sometimes she looked lovely 
Then terrified .
Other nights strangely calm 
And that scared me .
Like someone carrying
Something too heavy to put down .
My heart dropped .
Oh we let someone carry 
Our hopes and dreams 
And then watch everything 
Goes up in smoke 
Just because she had to feel good .
She took what she had to take from us 
Much more than our dreams .

Smile

I smile because I have survived 
Everything so far 
This world has thrown at me .
I smile so no one knows the bumpy
Road I have traveled .
I call many people Smiley 
So they do not ask me how I am feeling 
Inside .
I smile even when I am knocked
Down even today at my age .
I struggle and get back up by my self .
It is harder some days more than others 
But I smile and call people Smiley 
That is how I survive my pain
After being knocked down so many times .

Never Waste Time

I do not waste time no more .
I am no longer in a rush with life .
I do not wait for my life 
To become beautiful .
I embrace everyday with happiness .
I have peace in my mind .
I have strength in my body .
I have a special ease in my soul .

I value every moment of my life 
And I do not care what I look like

Grandma's Way

Grandma always had warm hugs
And remembers all of your accomplishments 
And forgets all your mistakes .
Her ears always listens .
Her arms always held love .
She never ran out of cookies .
She was always kind.
Grandma always quotes ,
Love , wisdom and inspiration to us all .
No matter how old we got 
For us it will always be grandma's house ,
Where she taught card games like pitch and whist  .
And you never tried to cheat .
I remember fishing with grandma 
And working in the garden 
And even getting pheasants with grandma .
My grandma was like a mom
With lots of frosting!!!!!!

A Hurried Life

My dad knew his life was diminished .
He lived his life in a hurry  .
He knew he had time 
So he taught a great reason to call people 
and kids smiley .
He taught me how to find 
Squeaky parts in a child .
Dad trusted Jesus .
He would go to church 
And fight his way up the steps to sing 
The words of Jesus .
Dad taught me to love and respect everyone 
And to remember the commandments of the church .
He told me to always have hope and pray
And have gratitude and always have strength to fight 
And never give up until he calls us home .
