A Blessing

Little Value

Sometimes when you just stand up 

And look well and stand still ,

Often the world sees you 

As having little value ,

But God sees things differently .

Lord is mindful of all of us 

Even if we are banged up 

With sins and its consequences 

It can also leave us scarred .

Most of the time ,

I am able to choose joy 

And a smile 

But sometimes I still

Become discouraged

Being called by God 

Is not a guarantee

Against discouragement 

But even when I become discouraged ,

I can truly find a deep joy

Sometimes Like A Child

Sometimes like a child I wonder 

What is taking so long .

When I knock at God's door in prayer 

And I do not wait around 

Long enough to hear an answer 

I ask does God open the door 

To find that I have vanished ?

The miracle of grace

Is that God constantly listens 

For our knocking and always responds

In love by being there for you and me .

God has given me talents 

And desires

And it is up to me to use them .

I am sometimes afraid that God 

Would call me to go somewhere 

I do not want to go .

Treasure Hunter

We can rejoice that God 

Is a treasure hunter .

He enjoys making diamonds 

From the rough .

He willingly sacrificed 

His only Son 

In order to bring us home 
As His treasured possessions .

He promised us an inheritance 

That can never be destroyed ,

Oh yea , get old or be taken from us again .

The one true God sent His Son 

To seek and save all ,

Jesus , being fully human ,

Has lived all of the struggles 

We have in this earthly life 

And has overcome them all .

He was tempted in every way 

And came out victorious .

If we will follow 

His lead and learn from His discipline ,

He will show us how to fly

The more we are in sybc with Him ,

The easier it will be for us to soar .

We Can Not Choose

We can not choose how God works ,

We have the assurance that our hope ,

Will not put us to shame .

God's love has been poured into our hearts 

Through the Holy Spirit .

This is a gift He has given to remind us 

That He sent His Son to die for our sins .

Remember , He loves us and will not leave us 

Along in sadness .

When we have faith , He will act 

And He will never disappoint and that is a fact .

Lent is not just for letting go of things .

It can also be about taking somethings up .

Remember , Jesus took up the cross .

I think we should read 

More about Christ during Lent ,

Pray more , enjoy more time 

By simply being in God's presence .

Out to someone we do not know well .

Be strong and courageous .

God's Opinion

Sometimes I wonder how I am going 

To get everything done .

Sometimes it occurs to me 

How my life seems to revolve 

To much around the opinions of others .

The need for approval 

From people who I work with , friends 

And family members .

It seems to occupy some of my thoughts ,

Which left me little room to hear from God .

I sometimes permit the words of people 

To drown out God's word .

But God does not want us bound 

By the opinions and criticism 

Of those around us .

I need to remember , as a child of God ,

I should always seek God's approval 

And God's thoughts .

Walk

I get to choose weather I walk

Through my life with a smile and joy it 

Or with reluctance and bitterness .

Most of the time I will call

Someone smiley and choose joy ,

But sometimes I still

Become discouraged

And satisfaction that I will follow

You thrill me , Lord with all 

You have done for me .

I sing for joy 

Because of what You have done .

Because your love is better than life ,

Yes , my lips will glorify You .

I can imagine when the Lord came and saw

The grace of God ,

He was glad and He exhorted all to remain faithful 

To God with a steadfast purpose .

Promises

When the future seems uncertain 

And I do not know what I can hold on to a.nd trust  ,

I find it helpful to remind myself of 3 of God's promises .

First , God's love is constant  ,

Everything in our lives changes in just a moment .

Secont , God's protection is certain .

God is our true shelter and refuge no matter my storm .

God will protect us .

He is always on our side .

We can always hold on to thee .

Third we can count on God's provision we do not have to worry 

Because our Father knows our needs and provides for us .

God's physical and spiritual provision has always been there 

With our changing circumstances 

We know we can hold to these promises from our unchanging God .

Thank Him

Today we have God's Spirit living in us ,

Allowing us to meet with God 

Throughout the day every day .

God is our source of forgiveness ,

Love , encouragement , teaching and direction .

I hope to continue growing

Even at my age of 68 .

In the practice of praying 

And meeting God ,

Throughout the day 

I thank Him
