Grandma and Grandpa

Old folks go to bed early 

And they get up early .

They do not need to get up at all .

They do not hurry .

They keep their car shinning .

They are the first to go to church on Sunday .

Grandma has all the snap shots .

Grandpa tells  all the stories 

And in his pocket is the old change .

Grandma and grandpa 

Have the hearts  of a child inside .

There Is Always A Need

We all prayed and prayed plus    

There is always a need that can be met .

You might volunteer at a hospital ,

Drive someone to a doctors appointment ,

Or send a card to someone who needs 

A lift when they are down .

Even holding a door open 

For someone can be away to serve Christ  .

We bless others with each act of service 

And we honor Jesus 

With our hands and feet 

Yes we will all fight and pray for the sick

Until God calls all our loved ones home 

 And then some more praying .

To Stretch Beyond

God wants us to stretch beyond 

What we know to open our hearts to others .

When we think we can not do anything  else

God might say , stretch your heart a bit more 

And talk to that person who looks lonely  .

Even when they hide behind a smile once

And a while .

God might tell us ,

Stretch ourselves and open our hearts 

To others.

God can take away our fears 

And help us to grow .

Let us pray that all believers 

Will come to know God 

Who stretches !

God helps us to grow  ,

Open our hearts 

To others more each day .

Not Easy

Some days I feel bitter , angry 

Or filled with self pity .

Other days I tell myself

To be patient and keep looking 

For opportunities  .

I pray that God will make a way. .

Eventually I accepted my struggles 

And I am determined to be  patient 

Through it is not easy .

Inspired by a smiley sister 

I keep my focus on praising God 

Rather than allowing worry to keep me 

From worshiping  .

I did not want to waste my life 

Worrying about my financial state 

When I could be living  my life for God .

I took action to change my outlook  .

I talked to my father about  many things 

Volunteer work and helping others .

Financial help did come from my brothers

And sisters

But those days gave me wealth 

In new brothers and sisters ,

New skills and a stronger faith in God. .
