Good Versus Evil

Until the last good versus evil
We are called to join the angels
In the battle against evil .
God promises evil will not prevail
Against us .
Let us worship with Jesus
Our triumphant king .

It is Jesus

It is Jesus' name that saves us from sin .
We were given our name at our Baptism .
It is the name that the pastor speaks
At church services
And our sins are forgiven in Jesus' name .
It is the name we confess
At the end of our prayers .
Jesus's name is the one
Word the one name
That gives us life .

God Has Compassion

God sure has compassion .
Jesus comes to seek
And to save the lost .
He will take away our transgressions .
God with his love
He will rejoice over repentant sinners .

My Grandson

I remember not too long ago

When I could hear your Heart beating

on my chest.

I know life is a cabaret

Of pleasures

And distractions

And ups and downs.

I will never regret

That I had an amazing

Time and experience

With you.

I will never forget

How you made me feel

Even if we fall off track

For a time.

We did grow together

Even if we grew apart

But now is the time

To come together

In peace right now.

Deeds

We make enemies too often
Out of those whom
God gives us as neighbors
Down the Street .
We celebrate another's struggles
Rather than defend them
Or even speak well of them .
We deserve our own deeds
Upon our heads .
Remember God is merciful always .

He is With Us

We get discouraged over Christmas .
We look to our past
And find guilt and shame sometimes
Rather than looking for the new baby Jesus .
We all have the gift of the church
His people are together to encourage
And hope in Immanuel .
God is with us today .
So let us pray to Jesus .

It Is Time

It is almost Christmas
On our own  , we are a doomed flock .
Oh how great is God's goodness .
His love endures forever .
He gathers , enlightens us . ,
God protects us .
We are His own .
He sent Jesus the Good Shepherd ,
To be our Savior and King .
He is the giver of life .
He will live eternally .

Reminisce

Old age has come at a bad time
Just as I was beginning to know everything .
The longer I live the sweeter the Lord grows .
The longer I serve Him
The more I pray .
I walk now into the unknown
Trusting the Lord now that I am getting old .
I remember things and people
That are near my heart
And are mine to hold .
Oh I reminisce the memories more
Now that I am getting old ..
Thank you Lord for the memories .

Retire

When you retire you will have many things to treasure forever  .
You will know time is always precious .
You will laugh more and spend more time thinking
And sometimes out of the blue
Your emotions will move to tears .
You will know where you came from
And you know where you are
And where you want to be .
You will enjoy life .
You will keep your dreams alive
And you will never give up on hope .
You hope to give more hugs
And to smile more and call people and kids Smiley .
You will always pray for your family and your loved ones
And have religion and go to church
And pray for your fellow man .
You are never to old to pray .

Craving

I have a craving for frog eye salad  ,
Peanut butter cookies ,
cream peas , my special green tea  ,
Roast beef with carrots
Onions and cabbage
And seeing people and family
I have not seen in a long time
But the most I am craving for is hope .

No Ordinary Person

All people need people .
There is no ordinary person .
Everyone needs to relax the tension
Of their body .
Everyone needs to calm the restlessness
Of their mind
And still the thoughts
Which worry us all .
We need our body and soul to rest
For tomorrow .
Right Smiley !

Jesus' Call

Some people  do not think Jesus' call
Is all that urgent .
They take their time
And ignore His words .
Come to me and I will give you rest .
They need to hear and repent and believe
In God .
For God so loves the world  ,
That He gave his only son .
That whoever believes in Him
Should not perish
But have eternal life .

Do Not Bother

We never bother our Lord
When we pray .
He hears every prayer .
He is never to busy
He never sleeps .
He never spends hours
Hunting pheasants
With his cell phone off .
His ears are open
To all who call Him .
