Last Broken Heart

Grandpa is living in a kind of isolation
And loneliness these days .
His arms are wrinkled
And are not like other grandpas
But he wants to hold his grandson .
This grandpa is down
To his last broken heart  .
Grandkids do not think their grandpa cries .
In the real world
Some things are never easy .
This grandpa will wait for him even in heaven .
If he does not see or hold him soon .

Complain

It is so easy to complain  ,
But solutions require action .
I carry a trash bag in my car ,
When I walk and always near me .
I try to keep everything tidy
And I always find time to pray .

Green Tea

Just like the warmth of a cup of green tea ,
When I read scripture like my uncle Jimmy
The warmth of God's love fills my soul .
I am reminded that although kids
and people have to leave me .
God will never leave me or them .
God will be there with every step
Of the way to fill our empty hearts
And find a new purpose .

The Old Barn

Sometimes I find myself leaning
To one side like an old barn
And I feel abandoned ,
But God will save me from feeling defeated ,
When my spirits sagging  ,
God's presence and power helps me
To stand firm once again .

As a parent I have continued
The tradition of eating chocolate chip cookies
And I enjoy the conversations that crop up
At mom's house as I eat to many .
Reliving memories of discussions
From my childhood are treasures
That I am blessed to share
With those who now gather
At my kitchen table .

Today may we invite the Savior
Into those quiet places in our hearts
That need his truth

He Closed the Door

He closed the door  .
My feet were on the floor
But they could not move .
As I watched through the back door window  ,
The further you got away from me
The more I lost you and could not see you .
You had to do what you had to do .
I know angels do exist
But sometimes they do not have wings
But are disguised as a grandkid.
I pray someday my little angel
Comes back and watches over me .

The Future

I do not know the future
I feel safe and secure
Under God's protection
And I take comfort in scripture .
I know my body changes
But God's love for me will not .
I look with anticipation
And great joy to the end
Of my journey
When I will meet Jesus face to face .

God makes a new way
For us today  ,
No matter our situation .
In order to follow God's path
For our lives ,
We need not to dwell
On the past
But focus our attention

Life is always complicated  .
We need to restore happiness
To the young and even the old .
We all need to include the excluded .

To Eat

This afternoon I went out to eat .
When I went to the counter to pay
For my dinner ,
The cashier told me that somebody
Had already paid for my dinner .
It was a miracle for me  ,
And I did not have to ask anyone
To lend me any money .
You know as we help others
In their time of need ,
God will provide for me too .

Pay Attention

When I sit out side or go for a walk  ,
I can find hundreds of hearts
Scattered in nature like the rock  ,
Moss , tree trunks
Even markings on vegetables in the garden .
My grandma knew that .
God surrounds me with love
And leaves me signs
Of this great love everywhere .
At my age all I have to do is pay attention .

Hand Over To God

What burdens do I need to hand over to God ?
He encourages us all to bring out the burdens to Him .
He will sustain us .
When we hand the burdens to God ,
We receive strength and also rest .
We need to accept God's offer to carry them ,
And He will watch us soar .
