Jesus' Love

How deep is our love ?

Does our love transcend fairness ?

Does our love refuse to reduce 

Individuals to the wrongs they have done ?

Is our love expansive enough 

To include even those 

Who have injured or betrayed us ?

This is the kind of love 

Jesus taught and lived .

May we pray to love 

Just as Jesus loves .

Remember to love the one 

You love bigger .

I Am Waiting

I sometimes grow impatient 

Waiting for God to act .

I then try to take control 

Because God is not moving 

According to my schedule .

God has a purpose for me ,

One that will be fulfilled according 

To God's plan and time not mine .

I should always remember 

The Lord will fulfill His purpose 

For me 

And I should always trust 

God to act according to God's timing 

Not mine .

Oh To Teach

Lord I place my trust in You .

Teach me and remove all the stumbling

Blocks that keep me from becoming 

The saint you have called me to be .

God I give thanks for the many blessings 

You have given me .

Help me to notice the ways 

You bring me joy and peace 

And that I might praise you .

How To Pray

One day when my grandson was praying 

I let him pray in his own words .

He prayed for many things 

And it all came from his heart .

His last words were Jesus ,

I am happy with you . Amen .

I was amazed what a simple way 

To express gratitude to Jesus .

You know as I grow older 

I tend to focus to much 

On praying the right way .

Oh to speak my prayers ,

So that they will sound correct 

To who may hear them .

I know God Sees my heart 

Not the complexity of my sentences .

Yes , we are all indeed God's children 

And That God is our Father .

Starting To Today

I need God in my life every day ,

So I decided that when I first wake up 

And I am still lying in bed ,

I would greet God .

Many times I thank God for a good night's sleep .

Sometimes I complain a little 

If it was not a good night .

Each day I acknowledge that God 

Is first on my mind and in my life 

Then I pray then I get up .

God deserves my attention 

And I have discovered that when God 

Is the first thought of my day , 

God becomes more important 

On my daily journey .

All throughout the day 

I remind myself that God 

Is always with me .

When I seek God first ,

Then the rest of my day is transformed .

A Secret

Contentment is not natural it is learned .

On our own we desperately pursue 

Whatever we think will satisfy 

Moving on to the next thing 

The minute we realize would not .

Other times our discontent takes 

The form of anxiously shielding 

Ourselves from any 

And all suspected threats .

But sometimes it takes experiencing 

What we would fear 

The most in order to stumble into joy .

Having experiences much of the worst 

Life has to offer .

Oh the true secret of true contentment .

The mysterious reality that as we lift up to God 

Our longing for wholeness , 

We experience unexplainable peace .

By caring even deeper into the depths 

Of Christ power , beauty and grace .

Peace In Our Hearts

We often keep stashed away in our hearts ,

Things that have brought us great unhappiness 

Like anxiety is hidden ,

But easily retrieved .

The anger that is below the surface ,

But ready to strike .

Resentment is like silently corroding 

The core of our thoughts .

We should encourage the people always 

Rejoice , to be gentle 

And to bring everything to God in prayer .

It is possible to push out dark thoughts 

And allow the peace of God to guard our hearts 

And minds in Christ Jesus .

It is when the thoughts that fill up our minds are true  ,

Noble , right , pure , lovely , admirable and praise worthy 

That we keep His peace in our hearts .
