What Do I See

When the tree I look at seems dead ,

I am able to see the sky 

From my kitchen window .

I now enjoy the many colors of the sky 

The white clouds and the bright blue 

By day and the stars and moon by night .

During my quiet time with God ,

I have a view of the heavens 

That fills my heart with Joy .

However , at times the Nordic sky 

Is low and gray ,

Making it difficult to see 

The sun and the night stars .

Like in our spiritual lives 

Our mistakes and difficulties 

Can sometimes distracted us 

From fellowship with God ,

Even though God's mercy never changes .

Remember this rather than focus 

On what distracts us ,

We can decide to focus 

On our relationship with God  .

God Is On Time

God is always working for me .

I will praise God no matter 

What I am going through .

I may not understand why

Or where this is going ,

Or where this is headed .

I know God loves me ,

Hears and answers my cry 

And restore me to live with hope .

At my age now I take time 

To run and to just get away

Or sit outside to reflect on all the good 

In my life 

And I look for God's blessings 

Even in the darkness .

Each Day

Praying continually might seem pretty daunting .

But then how often do we check our watches 

Or our phones ?

What if we instead let that urge be a prompt 

To talk to God .

More important , what if we learned to exchange 

A need to always be in the know 

For continual prayerful rest in God's presence ?

Through relying on Christ's Spirit ,

We can learn to give our heavenly Father 

Our continual full attention ,

As we make our way through each day .

Remember , we do have a God 

Who sits idly by and watches .

No our God comes and takes 

Part and has been through out our lives

Mom And Dad

They always said it is OK

To laugh on the outside

And cry on the inside 

When you are down .

Always take one day at a time .

God hears your prayer even when

You can not find the words .

I have a feeling of sadness 

The feeling of wanting

My mom and dad .

Wanting a mom and dad

has no age limit ,

No time limit 

And no distance limit .

Remember , if you have 

Your parents today ,

Remember as children 

We are sometimes 

So busy growing up

We often forget 

Our parents are also

Getting older

So if nothing else

Pray for them 

And talk to them .

Today and always .

Jesus' Love

Does our love refuse to reduce?

Does our love transcend fairness ?

Does our love reuse to reduce 

Individuals to the wrongs 

They have done ?

Is our love expansive enough 

To include even those 

Who have injured 

Or betrayed us ?

This is the kind of love 

Jesus taught and lived .

May we pray to love 

Just as Jesus loves .

Love the one you love bigger .

Warning Light

Sometimes God gives us warning lights  .

They can come in the form of comments 

From a friend or a conversation 

With a stranger or something we hear on the radio 

Or read in a book or see  on TV .

It is good to know that God is with us and guides us 

And if we heed God's signs 

God will lead us on the right path .

Yes , whether or not the path makes sense 

You should follow God .

God Box

A friend made me a box  

Of beautiful cherry wood 

With a brass plate on top 

It said God Box .

A note inside instructing 

Me to put all my worries 

And cares in God Box 

And leave them there

Just for God .
