If They Only Knew

When someone sees me 
And they say you should work out 
If they only knew .
True practice is done when no one 
Is watching you work out .
If they only knew 
How many exercises 
And years and roads I have done 
And keep doing even today .
My life has been like a shaky hour glass ,
If they only knew  .
At my age even today 
I do not let anyone tell me 
How to tie my shoes 
For they have not even 
Walked in my shoes once .
Life does not always 
Go the way I plan .
But I do know every 1 of my struggles 
Does help me understand 
To stay strong
Even when I feel tough inside .
I know one day my pain 
Will turn into strength .

When You Are Old

When you are old ,
Be kind to people 
Not because they are nice 
Butbecause you are nice .
When you are old ,
Sometimes you just 
Have to be done 
Not mad not upset 
Just done .
Growing old is a blessing 
That teaches patience  ,
Humility and the ability 
To find joy in simplicity 
Even when life no longer 
Moves as fast as  it once did .

We did not have you to long  .
We only borrowed you for a while .
You lived with the speed of joy .
You have the muscles to serve .
You were squeaky all the time .
We could get you to smile .
We will miss what we never had

Mary

It is a street light morning .
Mary will you pray to Jesus for me 
That I may have a good day .
Sometimes I am in a dark place 
Way to alone Mary .
I do not see as many people 
And children as I once did .
Now the children must be old .
I am sure you can see .
I have a broken heart 
And I have pains only Jesus and I 
Know where .
I always thought I did the right thing 
So I could spend more time 
With my loved ones 
But it is not to be .
This is my daily confessional .
Mary , I stretch out my legs and work out every day 
So to walk with Jesus 
For I know I am not alone .
Mary , once again will you please pray to Jesus 
For me 
That I may have a good day 
And that I do not have to many 
Ups and down days I pray .
