Who will not ever make it
To first base ,
Because he is different .
Does anyone know how often
Unnecessary comments
Become taunts of childhood ?
As you grow older the boo-hoos
Become more sophisticated
Because of our refusals to gossip ,
Our value systems are attacked ,
Become bait for the rough teasing
Or even cruel rejections
Of family and friends .
Some days everyone needs
To laugh on the outside
And cry only in the inside
And talk to God when you are truly
Alone with him .
