You Taught Me

I know you do not talk to me

Face to face no more ,

But you taught me a lot of the right things

Over the years .

You taught me so well .

I know  you would tell me

What to do and how to do it

With almost every situation .

I can even hear your voice

And I can even see the look in your eyes

Most of the time .

I know what you would say 

If I ask !

You would always end up saying

You would pray for me .

I know you will pray for me

Up on high with the Lord

As I go on my life's Journey  .

I wish you were here .

Grandma you could make me

Laugh or cry and even vent .

You could always read

My mood and understand

Me better than anyone ,

You always said it is great

To hold a dog after a long day .

You translated many things

To me so I could understand .

A baby or a small child

Is the best to love

Because they do not lie

And they are always good

In her eyes .

Grandma And Me

When I am with grandma ,

It is our time together to share .

I have no secret frustrations

Not around grandma .

I can talk to her about anything

At any time of day or night .

Grandma wants to help me

When she can .

She will pick me up

When I am down .

She always tells me

Where I came from

And what I can become

When I grow up .

I will never give up

On what I believe

because of grandma .

I will always have grandma's

Loving lingering memories

When I am a wake or when I dream .

On The Farm

The nights just row along

With the stars and the moon

Just outside my window .

On the farm at night

The stars will get in my eyes .

In the morning mom's radio

Tells me I am home .

On the farm I never waste a day .

I clean and feed all the animals

That have to be taken care of with love

Every day .

I take care of myself

And all my loved ones on the farm

And those far away .

My loved ones are always

With me .

I fell in love on the farm .

All my dreams were right

In front of me .

I did not know that until

I came home for the last time  .

The power of Friendship .

Friends do not need answers

The joy of being friends .

When you are with friends ,

Oh Mom

My mom was special 

But time took a toll

At the end of her life

On her and me ,

There is always a price

For caring and loving

Family and friends .

Mom paid the price early

Just for me .

I paid the price at the end

Of her life ,

That is the way it should be .

When my mom got old ,

She was never the same

After each minute  ,

But I still loved her ,

Even if she did not know me .

She did not know that she

Was never alone ,

Because I was with her

As often as I could be ,

But Jesus  was with her

Then and also now .

It's Cold

Baby it is cold outside .

It is a burning cold .

It is more than a slap in the face .

This morning it was a tough ride .

I did not know where to put the wind that blows  .

There is no way out .

The sunshine is a cold sunshine .

I Am Satisfied

It is a lot of fun to have fun .

The difference is everything  .

I am satisfied .

For he is my big big guy .

Fishing From Shore

When fishing from shore ,

With the first light of the morning ,

The sun will sneak up and kiss you

And you will feel it at the end of the day ,

With the sun in your eyes ,

You may see a fish do a splash dance .

A fish or two will give you a break

Not to hurt but be hurt

That is a true dad .

A dad is not to there

But be there when needed .

A dad is not to talk

But listen

Yet talk when he is asked

Every question .

A dad is to protect each child

When they don't want to be .

A dad is to show the way

When his child can not see

A dad is to hold and sing

to his child so it can sleep .

A true dad will take

His child to a magical place

Where all good things as possible

Day or night

And there is no sadness

In anyone's eyes just smiles

At dad's magical place .

Dad knew where to take us

And he calls us all smiley there .

Living on earth is expensive

But it does include a free trip
