Oh The Water

I love to just sit and watch the cool 

Clear water flow down the river .

I know people tell me I am different .

They say that I am over the hill .

Well as I sit here I see all those hills

Over there 

And I fish just to get away for just a little while .

I wonder , where is all the water coming from ?

What keeps the water flowing ?

Where does it begin ?

When I sit quietly and fish 

And watch the water move along ,

I honestly do not know where 

It comes from or where it begins ,

But I do know the source 

For the spiritual water in my life .

I know God will make us 

To be like a spring whose water

Never fails .

God promises to satisfy my needs 

And to work with me 

And I might even get a fish 

But I will never water down my faith .

Acceptance

I have flexible tissues , tendons 

And some muscle ache 

From the stain and playing

And working .

There is no fix .

I just have to live with it .

I wonder how much of my life 

Is made of the reality of accepting 

The limitations and pain ?

Some wounds and hurts can be healed ,

But some indeed I must endure forever .

What does acceptance mean to a person

Of faith ?

Perhaps not just to put up with it ,

But in the midst of my life 

That is different than I hoped .

I will dig real deep

And still get up in the morning 

And give praise and thank God 

For my pain but also my joy each day

To Lament

 

Oh to lament my complaints to God 

My stress over my debt ,

The unkind remarks 

Said to me ,

The helplessness 

In the face of a recent injustice 

Done to me 

Done to me 

And with the anxiety 

That is within me ,

My sadness .

God will rise up for me 

Against the wicked .

He will take a stand for me 

Against evil doers .

The Lord is my fortress 

And my God is the rock

In whom I take refuge .

I know God invites me to take

My lament to Him .

How To Face It

However , we will likely face 

The choice to speak out 

Against an injustice 

Or to remain silent ,

To provide assistance 

To someone in trouble 

Or maybe turn away .

May God grant us courage .

It is the time to start rebuilding 

Our spiritual lives .

Another chance 

For us all to come back 

To God's centered way of life .

God will bring glad things 

To those who are poor and hurting .

We are not going to drift along 

With the tide of evil and violence

God is in charge

There is always a honey do list in front of my face .

When I go to mass  ,

I am filled with expectation .

Have you had a feeling of be rejected

It is not a laughing matter

has a beef .

You turn your head ,

It is not easy to maintain confidence .

There are times when it feels 

As though our prayers are not heard 

And it is a struggle to just keep praying .

Now and then , I just give up ,

Grab a second cup of green tea 

And move on with my day

I do express more confidence 

In God .

It takes a true act of faith 

Not felt confidence ,

Even if we do not , though , our faithful acts

God always walks in front of me

A Promise Of Forgiveness

I found myself sitting out back

While the person sitting beside me

Was breaking my heart .

With tears and anger ,

I push the hurt deep down inside 

And though I will get back

On to anger and refusing 

To forgive someone does 

Not take the pain away .

It will only make it linger .

Choosing to forgive does

It means that we give up

It was New Years Eve .

Everyone was preparing 

For evening events .

I was thinking of my resolution .

God hears you 

When you need help .

Come boldly to ask for mercy 

And ask for blessings 

And for forgiveness . 

Ask God to strengthen you 

One more time .

Ask God to show you favor .

God does not judge you .

He lets it go 

So start a new .

God is pleased with you

Resolutions

As a new year begins ,

I hear conversations about resolutions 

And goals .

We make list of things to read ,

Places we want to travel to ,

Habits to break or to take up .

I think we all get caught up 

In listing and talking about our hopes 

And goals .

After  talking about the fresh start ,

Offered by our New Year's resolutions 

Is truly the easy part .

Living those resolutions 

Can be much more challenging .

Like standing up to bullies 

No matter your age ,

Serving others without recognition ,

To give to those in need 

And to always praise God .
