In Touch

I'm being swamped by

Violent waves .

Some people laugh 

At my expense ,

Because I could not 

Measure up 

So all I do is laugh

With them 

Or I walk away .

I have been there ,

I have done that 

And I don't want to go back

There anymore .

I found myself .

Yes , I found myself

With my dad 's arms around me 

And God's arms around us 

All the time 

And now the water is clear

And there is love around me always

And now I am in a good place .

Sober

Sober is more a word today.

Than an action .

It has been 10 years for me .

It is one day at a time .

It has been and is hard to shut

The door on the past .

Some days and nights I worry

About losing it all .

I still may get knocked down 

But I know it matters 

How I pop back up ,

That is why I take one day at a time .

I can lead , teach and encourage 

And be kind ,

But I can not control anyone 

But myself one day at a time .

You can be blessed in a dark place.

You got to start many things

On the other side of darkness

Is the new beginning .

The more you brake through the dark place

I pray to God and urge his help

I danced , jumped and played around

And in the wind we ran .

We had some fun .

Oh we sure played a bunch .

Together we had a good lunch .

It is time for us to rest .

Be a doer and a dreamer .

Believe that every day is a good day .

Watch out for fear

For fear talks you out of many things .

As long as you listen and learn every  day

You will do much better than OK .

Grandpa's heart shell throb and overflow

Remember when you bend your knees ,

God bends his ears to listen to you .

He always told me

My Dad

He changed my life in 14 years .

What would he say to me today ?

I understood my dad 

But he understood me much more 

Than I ever knew .

He showed me the love of horses

And dogs .

He could tell stories and oh how

He laughed .

He called kids smiley

And he could make your body squeak .

He liked to play as much as he could 

And he loved to play with kids 

Even his kids even more .

He made the old and the young  

Listen even if you didn't want to .

I loved being in his big chair together

Where we watched TV 

But the best  time was being 

On the floor with him .

He always had a small knife

And a rosary in  his pocket

So do I .

Dad's humility promoted unity 

My dad was special to more people

Then I will ever know .

I want to be like him .

The Gunny Sack

My dad would lay a gunny sack

Down flat over new grass

To help it grow

He said you should never use a gunny sack

To put all your troubles in 

And if and when it gets full

You will get sick 

So never tie up a gunny sack .

If you have troubles ,

Let them out 

By talking to someone

Who will just listen .

In time you will know 

What to do with your troubles .

When you lay down a gunny sack flat ,

It will give you a second chance to grow .

The Diet

A wise lady always said

She would start her diet tomorrow .

Everyone wants to lose a pound or two

But they don't know how .

The diet you see on TV

Say you can lose so many pounds 

In so many weeks  .

One thing you need is will power

You can not lose that

But you need to believe .  .

No matter how much you eat

And lose and gain on your diet

The more we live on a diet

Of God's word the more we grow !

I never took her for granted .

She helped to make my life

Rich and in her own way

My life rewarding .

I thank her for sharing 

Her faith and her good examples .

I thank her for being patient 

And understanding 

And for her confidence in me

And for her encouragement  

When I stumble or fall along the way 

And I needed some healing .

When I am with my grandma 

I never had to ignore my hurting

Because she is with me always

And she hears me every day

My Little Teddy Bear

Learn to love like a teddy bear .

Learn to forgive like a teddy bear .

With his imperfect arms and imperfect eyes

I take time for my grandchild .

I tell him how proud I am of him

Grandma . I want to do everything

It has been 10 years without a drink .

I still take one day at a time .

I need to have a priority 

A perspective and a plan every day .

The obstacles I face every day 

Give me the opportunity 

To trust God and therefore I pray .

I have been rescued

I praise God every day 

And to praise him is like

A song of my soul set free .

I believe dark fears flee

In the light of God's presence  .

I won't run from the needs of others

At mom's it is always

Her light will always be on .

At mom's , she never gave life

To the word defeat .

She always spoke of joy and my creativity

At mom's I rejoice every day

I am with her .
