Our Friends

Our friends are our life's greatest treasures .

We are never alone with our friends .

They are attentive to our needs .

Our friends will gladly share their life's joy

And burdens .

Everything we have learned from our fathers ,

We will make known to our friends .

We will lay down our life for our friends .

What a privilege and blessing

To have each other .

Our friends will never leave us or forsake us .

You gave me eyes  to see

Those around us as you see them .

You gave me a heart to share your love .

You helped me silence all the other voices

Around me that I do not need to hear .

Because a good friend of mine

You can take a nap at any time now .

You and God can go to a quiet place

And feel over stressed .

He Will Always Be Special

His mouth is closed for just a while .

He will have no more pain

Or any trouble no more .

Today he will sing with the angels in heaven .

His hunting days are over .

His fishing days are all set up in heaven just right .

Dad would say boys listen

Best while fishing

And its a great time for wishing .

So I will go fishing .

My sadness will vanish in the air

For above my head there is music in the air ,

Because I can hear my dad singing

A happy rhythm song from his soul .

I am sitting quietly listening  to him

And I'm wishing for a good day of fishing with him .

The Fear Of The Unknown

My biggest fear is the unknown .

The fear is like a missile that can fly

Into me in the morning ,

In the afternoon or late at night .

It can come to me relentlessly .

I do not hide that fear .

I try to bring that fear out

Into the light .

With God beside me ,

We can deal with my fear

For I trust God

The fear of the unknown

I started the day going into the bathroom

And I slipped on wet soap

Life VS Sports

Sports is something you can invest

In and yet it does not mean a thing .

To shoot to kill use the basketball .

Write instead of fight .

Don't tee off on someone

Go gulf .

Don't ride someone all day

Go ride a horse .

Don't go fishing for problems .

Go fish for walleyes .

Don't go hunting for the bad guys

Go pray for them .

Don't just go run .

Don't run away .

Run to help .

I know God can bring times

When he went fishing with his family ,

He would drop the anchor over board

When you fake a smile ,

You will smile .

Your filled with joy everyday

When you smile.

Life is hard , but work at

With joy in your heart

A smile with joy helps others

That's Fishing

It was a beautiful day

With calm waters

And a clear sky

But no fish .

It is common not to catch anything

But we get away from the everyday things ,

That is true fishing .

Some days even an experienced

Master fisherman like me ,

Who does everything right

May not catch any fish .

Fishing requires persistence

And a willingness to accept any results .

I guess , that is part of life ,

If you know what I mean ?

My Temper

My temper can be stretched

Out like a rubber ban .

It can be stretched out so far

And then it snaps .

I know life is fragile .

I know I try to handle

It with prayers .

Waiting for something

Goes against my grain ,

But I also know time spent waiting

On the Lord is not wasted time .

These instructions are hard for me

To take

So I will pray

That my temper will not break today .

I am a runner and some people

Think I should not be one .

I try to prove them wrong  .

I have stepped out of my home

And greet the day with my

Special step by step rhythm

Of my feet .

Some people ask if I run with head phones ?

I do not .

I find it better off having my daily

Conversation with my loved ones

Especially God .

These morning runs have become

My special prayer room 

And I am thankful for this quiet time

With God  .

My chats with my loved ones  and God

Range from prayer for family members

And friends and talks with family

And friends who are not here these days

But I still ask for guidance and direction

For my life .

My friends and family and God

Are always listening to me

As the dawn is breaking around me .

I know I can run , sweat , pray and cry

And nobody but God can tell the difference

When I run for I will always be in my prayer room

And nobody can judge me

Or laugh at me or say no you can not do that .

It is tough to find time

To just sit a spell even in a bar .

I look around at those who share

This time with me .

You helped me to make time

To spend some time with you for encouragement

Maybe a challenge to run

And perhaps just  plain conversation

Or oh just come in to the bar
