What Do I Have

No matter how little I have

With God's help I have enough .

He helps me see that we are all essential

To his plan .

To enjoy  the future accept

God's forgiveness for the past .

You can not do much about the past .

The past is gone .

The future is yet to come .

It can take time to disconnect

From the old bad habits of the past  .

You may struggle with ideas

The inner strength to do the right things

In my darkness

It is the blackbirds perched

On the roof of my neighbors house .

Causes me to think

Oh The Reflection

As I run the colors of autumn are here

The leaves are all ready amazing .

As I run I look carefully

At the small dam along the side of the road .

The reflections on the trees

In the area of the still water are breath taking .

As I stand still and look again

At the reflection of the trees  on the water ,

I understand

that the perfect reflection

Only occur in perfect stillness .

When I stand still I find peace ,

I will run home now .

When I get home I will go outside and sit down ,

I will be still and look at my shadow .

It is fun to just sit down with them .

Their presence will bring light to your path .

One might say sorry does not fix a lamp .

One may say shut your mouth and go to sleep .

One true one will say your days on earth will be many ,

They will make many things easy

For you to see .

There is always an old world about them ,

That most people don't have these days ,

So make sure you spend time with your friends

To Be Chosen

The boys ran from one side

Or the other laughing ,clapping

Their hands in excitement not me

Growing up I failed in all sports .

My inability to stay focused

On a play matched my clumsiness .

I was always the last chosen .

Standing alone waiting

For a team leader to pick me .

I felt the minutes drag by like hours .

I want and needed acceptance .

The day I graduated from high school

Part of my joy involved putting

That pain behind me .

No matter my experience in life

I do not want to feel unwanted

Abandon or rejected .

I know I will always be on God's team .

I do not require special skills

To earn a spot on God's team only to pray .

I don't need to just stand on the sidelines

Waiting to be chosen

Because God will let me coach under him .

Just Imagine

When I am out with a child ,

The 5 best toys to have of all time ,

Is a stick that he can pick up and threw ,

A box that he can get in and out of all by himself ,

A string that he can pull and then let it go

Into the wind and go after it all over again ,

A card board tube that he can look through  

And get a new look each time he looks through the tube

And then there is the good our door dirt

That a child can play in and even row in

And get happy being dirty .

All the things above are available

Versatile and appropriate for all

Ages of children and even a grandpa .

All these things fit every one's budget

And all of them is powered by imagination .

There is no batteries required .

Imagination is all a child needs

In their life plus love for all people .

He Was Special

Oh the thickness of his eye brows .

He never wasted a day .

He prayed every morning , noon and night .

Each step he took was a step of faith .

He taught me to recognize

The people in my life who need

Someone to stand with them ,

Not to laugh at them .

His promises to me were always kept .

He said , it is impossible to love yourself

Without loving others .

When you start something , you finish it .

You need perseverance for it is a key to victory .

You need to persevere even with some

Persecution and affliction .

You will be persecuted

But keep the faith

And with the encouragement from your family and friends

You will endure with hope .

And he will see you through
