A smile naturally results 

From the condition of our inner being .

Being happy from the inside out ,

We can be responded to surprising 

Circumstances with a genuine smile .

And yields to God's best .

It is not important when you plant

Or when you water it .

Don't judge each day by the harvest

But by the seed that you plant .

This Christmas Day

As I have grown older ,

I have noticed more joint pain 

Especially when cold weather hits .

Today I feel less like a conqueror 

And more like someone conquered 

By the challenges of becoming 

A senior citizen .

As I sit quietly in silence

This Christmas morning ,

I can not help feel invigorating ,

My heart feels a special cleansing .

I know you became poor so that I

Can be rich .

The Playground

The playground is a place for recreation .

In the 3rd grade ,

The children in the playground 

Learn life's lessons .

The children will speak out loud

But they will listen .

They may find an inspiration

On the playground

Even if they do not know

What inspiration means just yet .

Everyone plays fair in the 3rd grade .

They do on to others as they would want them

To do on to them .

They do not worry about the golden rule .

They play with each other and have fun .

It is to bad that all the kids grow up to fast

And forget what they learned in the 3rd grade

And the cost of living and the big lessons

Learned years ago .

The Kindly words that fall today

May bear its fruit tomorrow .

To speak kindly does not hurt your tongue .

You learn manners from those who have none .

If I have known

A December Night

I brace myself against the chill

Of the night wind .

Yesterday is old and gone .

Tonight is all band new 

And it is here now .

It is a silent night .

Thank you Jesus 

For being born in the dark world 

So that I might

Be born again in your life and light

God will gently draw

Me out of the darkness.

God never abandons anyone 

Of whom He has set His love

What do I do to ever deserve you ,

I thought you walked away from me 

But you never did .

I have come home with booze 

On my breath 

And so much stuff on my mind .

I have even told you f.....you .

If I could repay all that I have done

I did not understand when you said

You prayed for me everyday .

I know I have given you hard times ,

But I know now the Lord 

has brought me home ,

And you never gave up on me .

I know I have a long way to go .

I know now with all my pain I have 

The Lord has always been with me 

And I can leave all my pain and trouble 

At his feet 

And not at my mother's door ,

Because my mother never gave up on me

Nor does the Lord .

Now with mom and the Lord I will soar .

A Time For Gentleness

Be completely humble
And gentle always .
The troubles in life
Can make anyone cranky
And out of sorts .
There is no excuse
For bad behavior ,
Because it wither the heart
Of those we love .
We need to learn more to be pleasant .
We should never jar the heart of anyone
And make it ache .
Gentleness is a willingness
To accept limitation
And ailments without taking
Out aggravation on others .
We need to have tolerance
For those who are not kind
And noisy and so boisterous
To the old people and to the sick
who have pain and to the children
Who do not understand
What is going on
All the time .
We need to speak softly
In the face of provocation .
Sometimes the unruffled silence
In your heart is the most
Eloquent response of all .
These little things every day
Makes a difference .
Do all these little things
For you and God .

My Dog

My Dog can not see colors 

But she can see more than you and I .

When I talk to her ,

She never talks back .

She never turns her back on me .

She will lick my wounds 

Wherever they are to help me feel better .

In a quiet misty morning 

When the moon has gone to bed

And when the birds stop their singing 

And the sky is clear and red 

My dog is with me .

When I am with my dog 

And with my thoughts ,

I know she will listen

To everything I say .

I trust her and she trust me .

She is immeasurable ,

She is inexhaustible 

And she is my loving buddy .

Mom's Gift

Mom's home was special 

To anyone who would come in .

She always had nice lighting ,

A easy chair or two 

And a comfortable couch 

And the smell of coffee 

In the air .

There was always food in the Frig .

And everything was free .

She just treated people 

The way God wanted her to treat

Children and people the right way .

She was generous to all 

Beyond anyone's imagination.

The people who came to her house

At any time or night ,

Got a glimpse of God's generosity .

She was my mom .

Never give up on any one 

Not even yourself .

You will never be alone .

The riches that are in your heart 

And the hope you have will never be stolen .

The head learns new things 

But the heart forevermore practices

Old experiences .

When you have hope ,

When you have been hurt ,

You will need hope to make it

To the other side

Things didn't look so bad .

I shared with them

A bit of hope I had .

The Patterns of our days are always changing ,

Rearranging and each design for living is unique graced

With it's own special beauty .

You can sleep in the hey 

But you might wake up with an itch .

Taken separately the experience 

Of life can work harm and not good .

The world does not know .

Your steps might be steady .

Keep to the course you set .

Remember , you can see the stars in the river .

When you feel flustered and frazzled

In the outside ,

You should not get upset .

With all the things going on all around you ,

You may feel overwhelmed 

You need to remember 

That God is always with you .

God will never put you down .

He will encourage and support you more ,

You need to slow down .

Your pace of every day living ,

You need to quit yourself down

It is Christmas time .
When many things
That are down will go up .
Everyone is in a hurry .
Everyone wants to be first
To get what they want .
Jesus's Kingdom is upside down .
Christmas time is a taste of heaven .
When we bend down to help a child
During Christmas to brighten

We become closer to Him .

What Is Compassion

The Lord will comfort his people 

And will have compassion 

For the afflicted ones .

Society need people who know

How to be compassionate and honest .

There never was any heart 

Truly great and generous 

That was also tender and compassionate .

You need to have affection or others ,

You need exuberance about life ,

A conviction that a basic 

Holiness permeates things and people .

You need to be agreeable ,

Be sympathetic ,

Be loving , be humble ,

That goes for all ,

No exceptions ,

No retaliation ,

No sharp tongue ,

No sarcasm .

You will be a blessing 

And you will get a blessing .

Remember the compassionate person 

Feels with God's heart .

Hope is a state of mine

Not of the world .

Hope in this deep and powerful sense ,

Is not the same as joy that things 

Are going well ,

Or willingness to invest 

In enterprises that are obviously 

Healing for success ,

But rather an ability to work 

For something because it is good .

Hope is the thing with feathers 

That perches in the soul 

And sings the tune without the words 

And never stops at all .

Hope is the ability to hear the music 

Of the future .

Hope begins when you stand in the dark 

And look toward the light .

The Greatest Love

Clothe yourselves with compassion ,

Kindness , humility , gentleness and patience .

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievance ,

You may have against one another .

With all these virtues

Put on love which binds 

Them all together in perfect unity .

You need to reveal a genuine love 

For God 

And the ability to convince your family 

And all others of the love for everyone .

Serve each other with love .

Love must be sincere .

Honor one another above yourself .

Remember in God's wisdom ,

He frequently chooses 

To meet our needs by showing His love 

Toward us through the hands 

And hearts of others .

Be kind and compassionate to one another ,

Forgiving each other and always

Give out the greatest love .
