A Burdened Heart

Has God burdened your heart to help someone ?

Do mot assume you know what that person needs .

Prayerfully give as it may seem wise and not merely

To feel better 

When we truly aim

I have been in a wreck or two .

Folks say you will get over them ,

But you do not .

I remember them all .

You never get over 

How they happened 

And even why 

And maybe I should not ?

Just for tonight I will be grateful .

I will give thanks for the past day .

I will accept that I have done 

The best I could .

I will be humble .

I will not attempt to rectify 

Today's mistakes 

Or solve tomorrow's problems .

I will place my future in the care 

Of a loving God .

I will release my loved ones to my God .

I will set aside anger ,

Judgement , resentment , envy 

And all hurt feelings

To lie down and close my eyes .

Time Marches On

Time marches on and things change .

The old will go away 

But before that happens ,

The old have wisdom 

And they will love , trust the Lord .

They will do what is commanded of them .

They will remember the good deeds of the past ,

How the Lord fought for them .

They will trust the Lord's promises for the future .

The Lord will continue 

To fight for them 

So the old will cling to the Lord until they die .

It Is Personal

Yes ,the Lord is good and God is gracious .

No surprise here , but how the meaning 

Deepens when you say ,

The lord is good to me .

God is gracious to me .

Reflect on how many times

When you reflect on the many ways 

In which God's graciousness 

Has touched your life already

I feel I have the assurance from the Lord 

That I can ask , seek and knock anytime 

For the door to be open for spiritual assistance .

The soul has great benefits

A Struggle

Living in the midst of people 

Who do not follow God 

Is not a new struggle for God's people .

We can easily slip into the temptation 

Of judging people for turning 

Away from God and coping 

In the way of some people .

How could they turn from the one

True God ?

Everyday , we have a variety 

Of influence that pulls us away

From following God's path for our lives .

God teaches us that we 

Need to follow Him daily

To Make Plans

As we make plans and follow our dreams ,

God can purify our motives 

And empower us to devote whatever we do to Him .

To Obey

There have been days 

When I pray with each step 

Because of anxiety 

As a result of an illness in my family 

And the feeling of isolation .

I have had tearfully prayed 

At night but also in the light of day .

I have felt God and my grandma 

And my mom and dad nudging me 

To go to church .

I am sometimes filled with fear .

Yes  , God knows how hard it is for me 

And it is a challenge 

But my small steps of obedience 

Does help me move forward each day .

Who Is In Your Corner

First they were in your corner

Then they were gone 

But Jesus  has been there for us 

Offering hope , loving kindness 

And abundant peace forever .

Some people may make us feel alone .

That we are near Him 

And we find courage in the

Remembering Sep 11

When we discuss what happened

On the morning of Sep 11 ,

Our fears and concerns escalated 

When the news that the Pentagon 

Had also been hit ,

So we went to church and prayed 

On our knees in front of the altar ,

In community with other children 

Of God that day .

Yes we ate and learned and worshiped together .

Our faith is strengthened by others 

As they encourage each of us ,

Love us and hold us .

Yes we travel through our journey 

Of faith and life like a community .

Yes I Complain

When ever I complain to You  ,

Lord you are always  fair 

You are like a rock to me .

Your deeds are perfect to.

Everything you do 

Is just and fair .

You are a faithful God 

Who does no wrong .

Yes when I confess my sins ,

You are faithful and just 

And will forgive my sins 

And purify me from all my unrighteousness .

Yes I have a great need for Christ .

Your Strength

Your strength and shield is around me always .

You plan out each day and have it ready for me

Long before I arise from bed .

You provide the strength I need for each step 

I make each day .

I should not assess my energy level 

And wonder about what is on the road ahead .

I should concentrate on staying in touch with You .

God's power flows freely into me 

Through our open communication .

I refuse to waste energy , worrying 

And I will have strength to spare .

This is not easy said and done .

Full Access

Three days of pissing rain

And everything with is saturated 

With overflowing streams 

Causing full drainage 

And flooded roads 

Orange barrels and Road Closed signs 

Block the street that I even want to run on .

Even when I try to drive ,

I need ton seek more alternate routes .

I found more barricades 

Requiring that I had to turn around .

The detours increased my frustration 

In getting where I needed to go .

I know when I pray ,

Nothing stands as an obstacle .

I have full access to God at any time .

When her boy said by by ,

She said , I will always love you ,

Remember your roots ,

Do not get above your raisin 

For you are a southern boy

And my boy to .

She did cry when he said good by .

Her hungry eyes where not dry .

She sang the blues .

Her home is now cold 

And she is truly growing old .

She never complained .

She remembers seeing the backside 

Of her boy .

Now the leaves of fall have fallen 

To the grown 

And she still miss him and his eyes 

And she still sees his eyes every where .

She knows the circle will never be broken

His Empowering Presence

The Lord is my strength .

He makes me as sure footed as a deer .

It is He who has arms of strength 

And keeps me secure .

He makes me feel like I have the feet of a deer .

My assignment is to trust Him .

When my circumstance ,

My physical condition 

Feel out of balance ,

The demands on me seem far greater

Than my strength .

I have a choice between 2 alternatives 

Giving up

Or relying on Him ?

I will turn to Him .

He will put strength  into me 

And He will give me 

All that I need .

God's Love

It is hard to be a Christian sometimes .

We do not understand why God allows us ,

Or those we love to fall ill 

Or why some in the world are hungry ,

Troubled and oppressed .

But being a Christian means 

We are in it for the long haul .

We do not give up 

When our best laid plans 

Seemed doomed to failure .

We persist in hope 

Because the Lord persist in love .

Today is the best day so far this year .

We are rich because  we own the day .

Finish today and be done with it .

You did what you could .

You may have had a blunder or two

And doubt my have crept in .

Forget them as soon as you can .

It Is Dirty

When dishes go unwashed after a meal ,

It will likely remain in the sink over night right !

Because the food dries firmly on the dishes ,

It takes much longer to clean 

Than dishes that are washed immediately 

Much like washing dishes ,

The best thing for our lives 

Is to acknowledge the grime immediately 

And not to postpone action 

For the future , waiting only makes it 

More difficult to change .

But even when  we leave dirt 

In our lives long enough for it to stick ,

Forgiveness is a powerful cleanser .

God does ask that we forgive others 

And God forgives us .

God cleanses us from sin through the power 

Of Jesus' blood .

The Door

Human beings to often slam our doors .

We become angry or jealous 

When our family and friends and neighbors 

Do not share our personal taste or priorities .

Sometimes we even try to strong arm people 

Into our ways .

We forget that in God's world 

It is not about any one person's individual tastes .

It is about being in relationship 

Together for Jesus' sake .

The Wolf

The name of the Lord 

Is a fortified tower .

The righteous will run to it 

And are safe .

Protect me , Lord God .

I will run to You for safety .

All who listen to Him 

Will live in peace ,

Untroubled by fear of harm .

The closer you walk to the Shepherd ,

The father you are from the wolf .

Come To Him

Come to Him and rest in his loving presence .

You know this day will bring difficulties 

And you try to think your way through your trials .

As you anticipate what is ahead of you 

In your mind you will be rehearsing 

Your troubles and results in experiencing 

Them over and over again 

But you are meant to go through them only 

When they actually occur .

Do not multiply your suffering .

You should come to Him and relax 

In His peace and He will strengthen you

And He is always with you .

As God's  people commit to being 

Faithful in prayer 

When we depend on prayer ,

We can commit to living 

Our faith and loving 

All who are made in God's image .

As we cry out to God ,

He will help us break down barriers 

And help build bridges of peace

Loving God

Sometimes we think we are loving God 

By keeping busy and ignoring rest .

Following a routine and being generous 

To others are good things in themselves 

But when they come at a cost of rest ,

We are disobeying God .

Thankfully , Jesus forgives us 

And remind us of the importance of rest 

In Him and with His Word .

God will protect you 

And provide for you .
