The Blessings

My soul praise the Lord 

For the many Christian congregations 

That have prayed for me .

From the church and Father of my faith 

To the loving congregations  currently 

Praying for me .

The Lord's blessings are many .

When I recount them in my heart 

With gratitude  ,

These blessings do encourage me 

In all my circumstances .

They help me rejoice in God's abundance 

In the past as well in the blessings

Of God which may come today .

God's opinion matters most .

Other people's view may seem 

A reliable way to measure 

Successes and failures

But in truth only God's opinion 

Is trustworthy .

Only God can set us free 

From the hold others

The Circumstance

Being faithful does not simply mean 

Attending church services 

And singing hymns every Sunday .

It means praising and looking 

For God in every circumstance 

No matter how bleak .

I am weak and wish 

I was stronger so I could move

Around faster and as I pray

And praise God .

I need to be patient 

And God will not forget me .

As A Child

As a child and at times even today 

I still endure the bullying ,

My grandma always told me 

To laugh on the outside

While crying in the inside  .

I knew what she said .

Some people have that look 

When they look at me 

I look at them and smile at them

And I still think why .

And it was not what Christ 

Thought of me .

I still have a friend stands 

Along side me .

I hold on to God  ,

Who leads me through it all 

And He helps me grow every day .

At my age today I know how much       

Love and peace God provides me .

Overwhelmed

I remember the over flowing creek 

That I fished from from from time to time ,

I am not like the creek's submerged rocks .

In my most stressful moments ,

God will not let my trials sweep over me ,

In a way when I fish 

God will provide calmness , strengthen , guidance

Even if I do not get a fish .

Have A Great Day

Great things make sense .

You need to stand tall

And stand still .

You have a limit 

Of time so get to it .

You need to be quiet 

To listen to it all .

You need to go to sleep 

To get true rest .

It is always OK to cry 

And eat candy any day .

Everyday find time to smile

And some joy .

With days with pain and worry 

And fear always give your all 

And always find time 

To tell someone you love them 

And always pray to the lord

Hopeless

We tend to think 

That we are self sufficient .

We complete an education

But not of hard knots ,

We work in our profession

And to never give up 

And we plan for retirement 

And we often think we have things 

Under control ,

But when difficulties come into our lives ,

We remember how hopeless

We are without Christ

Mom And Grandma

My mom and grandma always told me 

To take 1 day at a time .

They gave  me a lesson in faith and hope .

When we are with God 

And believe in God's goodness and mercy ,

We must experience transformation 

In order to renew ourselves ,

To grow and to serve our faith 

With others by showing 

What God does in our lives .

As followers of Jesus

Through a life of intimacy with God

I Am Older

Now that I am older ,

I have realized that far from being a chore ,

Prayer can be like spending time with a beloved friend .

The need to say something 

Is often less important than simply being together .

I try to listen more than I talk 

And I revel in the joy of being with God .

God will listen to my prayers 

Any time regardless of what I have done in my past 

Or where I am on my spiritual journey .

All I have to do is show up , turn 

Out distractions and open my heart .

I know I am not always successful in listening to God ,

But I have learned that it is always worth the effort .

The Journey

Others have gone before us  ,

And the path is there for us to follow .

We have the ultimate guide in Jesus Christ 

And we can follow in his footsteps 

To avoid feeling lost .

If we accept Jesus as our guide ,

It is important for us also to accept 

The responsibility of helping others .

We may meet along the way ,

Whether the needs are physical ,

Emotional or spiritual .

Remember , Jesus would not have left them behind ,

And so we are called to help those around us as well .

I am astonished that God cares for us .

As I spend time out doors 

I am constantly rejoicing at how big God is 

And how incredible it is that God would delight me .

There is a feeling of slavery 

By the symbolizing by the clutter 

In the house and also in my junk drawer .

Now , every time I open my clean drawer ,

You see , I do not have to hold on to sins 

Shame nor anger  .

Because living with Christ has set me free .

A Steep Hill

How many times in our lives 

Has each of us encountered a steep hill ?

With a strong faith in God 

And a personal resolve to see 

A task or difficulty through ,

We all can overcome obstacles 

That at first may cause us to recoil 

But each victory we achieve strengthen us .

As we strengthen our faith 

So as to move mountains ,

We can imbue others around us

With the same strength .

God has given us our very breath and life 

Besides providing for our needs

How refreshing it might be to enjoy

God knows my thoughts ,desires ,

Plans and ambition .

God is concerned with the condition

Of my heart not my skin , weight ,

Hair , or nails or any part of my body .

Instead of fretting about how I look ,

I begin each day meditating 

On God's word and praying 

For more love , more faith 

And more of God in my heart .

He Is Never

The Lord is never blind to my tears

If it is a few or a million tears 

Not even those that come down at night .

He is never deaf when I pray to Him .

I can pray during the day or night .

He is never silent to my pain .

The pain that is during the day 

And the pain at night that can not be seen by me .

I know the Lord will hear and see 

As long as I trust and believe

The Purpose

I know there is a purpose for everything 

And I do not know why .

I know there is a purpose for everyone I meet .

Some people come into my life 

To test me I believe 

And I say why .

Some people come into my life to teach me 

More than wisdom

Like my loved ones and my true friends 

And they always have my back 

And to those I love and pray for every day .

Adulthood

There are people who make 

It through not just 1 day 

But even 1 week or even more faking 

To be an adult .

They will get offended 

If they are questioned  about anything .

We can not rescue them every time .

They need to do more listening and learning .

They are afraid 

To discover their own path 

They just do not have 

The zip-a-dee

Part of their doo-dah day 

That is so sad 

Because they need to stop the faking 

And realize how an adult should act 

And have a true happy day .

God's love can truly dwell in us 

Only if we measure it as we give it away .

It will never work in our hearts

Unless we give love away 

As an act of love 

Then we get more of the divine love 

Remember love is a gift 

And true love is a participation 

In the divine life

They say dogs run

They say turtles do nothing but craw

And pray to God every day 

God will let you enjoy life

Getting Old

Time and Friends are 2 things 

That become more valuable 

The older we get .

When you get older you let 

Love and kindness 

Be the motivation behind 

All that we do .

A beer no longer solves any problem

But neither does green tea .

The older we get the more faith we have .

When we get older

We do not always need a plan .

Sometimes we just need to breathe 

Believe , trust Him and let go and see
