Your Forgiveness And Strength

Your pastor is God's ear and voice 

For you to come to with your problems .

Yes there is a God who cares for you 

And wants to be your strength and hope .

Sunday morning worship is the place 

To bring your problems to God .

There we confess our wrong doing 

And get forgiveness .

There we can pour out our heart 

In the company of others 

Who are doing same thing 

And then together we will be fed 

God's word of hope and receive 

His body and blood , which gives us 

Strength to face our problems 

To worship is not to much .

What we bring to God 

As it is what God brings to us .

Quiet Comfort

When I was in pain and in deep lose ,

I remained faithful and praise God .

My friends come to visit me .

They sit beside me for 7 days and nights 

In silence , comforting me with out using 

A word .

Quiet comfort can be the best gift 

For a grieving and hurting person .

In times where sorrow is to deep for words ,

The act of just being with the person who speaks volumes .

The days of silence and comfort helps me 

Deal with my sadness ,

While having the support I needed .

Remember , silent companionship 

Is a good way to remind us 

That we are loved

And not alone .

Rescue Me

There are days we need to take refuge 

In God for comfort .

If I want the truth 

I can talk to God .

Life is seldom free of challenges 

That test our faith in God .

IIn His hands and trust Him to be with us .

What God Sees

When I look out the kitchen window

Early in the morning ,

I notice a bird or two 

In a tree keeping watch 

Over the area waiting for breakfast .

They are all inclusive gaze seem regal .

God has a royal gaze over us .

The Lord's range throughout the earth 

To strengthen those whose hearts 

Are fully committed to Him .

God does not watch our every move so He 

Can pounce on us like the birds of prey .

God does continually watches and waits 

For us to call on Him .

To be precious means to be 

Valued and cherished .

We use the word precious  

To describe a new born 

Or a young child as one we

Foot races are not the only thing 

That requires second wind strength .

We are called to practice love

To often we think of love as an emotion ,

But it is more than that .

A Joyful Noise

As a child I stood by my dad 

And we sang in church every Sunday .

I sang with gusto ,

Without worrying whether I was tune 

Or off key .

We sang with all our heart and voice 

With simple praise ,

Oh the fruit of our lips 

That openly profess his name .

We let the word of Christ 

To dwell in us to praise God 

With singing and gratitude .

Sometimes our insecurities 

Hamper our worship .

Today I sing more quietly 

Because I worry I am singing of key .

Maybe I can learn to come before God 

And worship 

Like I was a child 

And not worry about how i sound 

But simply praise for God's mercy 

And love .

Every time I go to church 

I think about my dad singing

He has an assignment for me .

Every day of my life is a reminder

At The Rest Home

If you go to a rest home , 

One of the joys of being there

Is to visit with the residents 

An d the residents reflecting 

Upon their lives and times 

When Jesus had been known to them ,

Their remembrance , a deeper understanding 

And realization of Christ's presence often emerges .

The stories they recall are numerous 

Like a wedding , a reunion or a conversation 

With family or an old friend .

As they take stock of their lives ,

They tell me that faith is best lived hoping 

For the promised future 

While remembering the fulfilled past .

They tell me Christ has been made 

Known to them

And I tell them Christ was made known 

To me more today .

You got to stay open 

To see God's way .

Caring For God's World

In order to take care of the home 

That God built for us 

I try to live a life focused

On cleaning up our world .

There are small steps 

I can do like recycling 

And supporting environment causes 

They are small steps 

Toward a solution .

If my example encourages others

Can become large strides .

We may feel powerless 

To protect our world

God offers us a new life

Flourishing Flowers

Oh the flowers are flourishing .

Oh yes thriving .

Although each individual flower 

Blossoms and blooms swiftly ,

Its fragrance and color and beauty 

Brings great joy to the moment 

And even though an individual flower

But its place remembers it no more 

But by contrast we have the assurance 

That from everlasting to everlasting 

The Lord's love is with those who fear Him .

As people exclaimed as they

Entered the church on Easter Sunday 

Their sense of wonder and astonishment 

Was palpable as they gazed around 

The transformed sacred space ablaze 

With flowers color and light .

remember Easter is celebrate

Gathering together in praise 

And adoration of the risen Christ .

As our joyful voices ring out in praise ,

Jesus' words of forgiveness from the cross

To Be Rejected

The primary aspect that makes life

Worth living is that Jesus is the foundation 

That gives life meaning and hope .

We all experience sadness after the lost 

Of someone or something that has been meaningful ,

Where a job or a person .

The feeling can pass with time 

Or it can paralyze us for years .

Remember , Jesus will never leave us 

So long as we keep the faith .

When I receive bad news 

I can become stuck on an ending 

Cycle of paralyzing fear .

I have been surrounded by prayers 

And encouragement from many family 

And friends .

As a result , time and again 

As my journey continues ,

I marvel at my age how small a burden 

The weight of my circumstances seems to be .

Some how the Holy Spirit lightens

Through others prayers , acts of kindness 

And words of encouragement .

When we know someone who is

Going through a difficult time ,

A simple text , a card or a meal or just a ride 

Maybe enough to relieve 

A portion of the burden .

To Be Consumed

As I sat outside by the fire  ,

I saw pine logs crackling ,

Hissing and spitting as they burned .

I know why the logs split .

I know what it is like to be consumed .

The difficulties , distress 

And the results of my own wrongdoing

The circumstances slowly drains 

My heart of joy and peace .

When I do keep silent ,

God did promise His presence .

How Long

The question is when wearied 

Because of life challenges

Good Friday

I will plant potatoes on Good Friday 

In the dirt with the eyes to the sky.

After a while a small shoot peeks out  .

The potatoes that appeared lifeless was alive .

As Easter is about here it reminds me 

Of grandma and I as we planted potatoes on Good Friday .

How hopeless Jesus followers 

Must have felt when they saw Him die on the cross 

And watched his lifeless body carried away 

And sealed in a tomb

Hope was not dead .

Three days later Jesus would rise 

Triumphant over death and the grave .

Jesus' resurrection is a far greater miracle 

Than grandma's and my potato plants 

But the potatoes show me that even 

When the outlook seems hopeless ,

We all can wait on God .

Who offers new life , new hope 

And new beginnings .

I do believe .

Easter Thoughts

You are somebody's child .

Being a Christian is a daily process

Whereby you grow to be more and more 

Like Jesus .

Courage is contagious .

When a brave man takes a stand 

The spines of others are often stiffened .

Oh mountain tops are for views and inspiration 

But remember the fruit is grown in the valleys .

Church goers are like coals in a fire 

When they cling together ,

They keep the flame aglow

When they separate ,

They die out .

Do not ever hesitate 

To take to God whatever is in your heart .

He already knows it anyway ,

But He does not want you to bear the pain

Or celebrate its joy alone ,

Everything is going to turn out all right .

The birth and resurrection 

Of Jesus are two pinnacles

From which hope springs agents .

You and I are God's hope .

And especially of the hope 

And joy we have in a Savior 

And the love of God in Jesus

You could reach out to just to that one person 

In your circle of influence

Trust Him to give you the words

Walk With Christ

Following Jesus requires us

To change our hearts and minds sometimes .

Many things can influence our thoughts

When we have disobeyed 

Jesus and Jesus's teaching 

And we believe that we

A Road Sign

We encountered a road sign .

Rough Road Next 3 Miles 

Immediately the van  began to shake and bump !

We were glad we knew it was only 3 miles .

We thought we might turn around and go back .

Usually in life we do not know the duration 

Of a rough patch in our lives .

Often our struggles can seem endless .

Those who are chronically ill

Or working for so little 

That it hurts all day to work 

But you have to work anyway 

And you not know when 

You will find relief ?

But in time of uncertainty 

We can trust God's sovereignty

A Miracle

 People I know tell me to trust Him .

The snow and wind is still come-in .

God performs miracles .

Today they say we got 13 inches 

Of snow .

The driveway has more than a foot .

I can open the door 

But for now I better keep the screen door

I may not get a miracle today 

But we all need each other

This is the day that the Lord

Grandpa has the responsibilities

That his grand kids learn

Getting Old

 I am getting older

It is in my face and I feel it in my bones .

My body never did perform the way 

Most kid's body .

My reflexes are slower ,

I have more aches and pains 

But as I grow older ,

I realize I am also gaining a new insight

I still can do the work of the Lord .

I actually have more time these days 

To read scripture , pray and listen 

To God's voice then when I was younger .

I am growing more grateful for the Lord's blessing .

I am learning that with age comes a spiritual maturity .

To share suffering with others 

Is being sensitive to their suffering .

Whether for just an hour or a life time ,

Means we care for that person .

Your caring , without taking 

On the suffering in yourself 

Is what is most helpful to another .

But they do need to know you understand 

And care about them .

Jesus is the one who takes on our suffering 

For the forgiveness of sins .

He suffers with us and for us 

In our place on the cross

For us caring means being supportive

Oh when the facade crumbles 

The effort it takes to be honest with yourself 

And put the past behind you .

Not in a pretend it did not happen

But in a do not keep giving past hurts 

The present power kind of way .

It is an ongoing hard work 

But the good news is that God 

Has redeemed our past 

And gives us a future worth living for

A Healing

When you offer hospitality 

You may be offering God's healing .

When my world was shattered 

By my pain ,

Most people did not know of my situation 

But their care and acceptance 

Is a balm to my broken heart 

And decimates self esteem .

Through it all I realized how important 

It is for me to be warm and friendly 

To everyone I encounter .

I do not know the pain and sorrow 

That others are dealing with

But in this broken world almost everyone 

Is hurting in some way .

Grandparents

The joy of grandparents is to get 

To play with their grandchildren .

Grandparents get to smother them

With hugs and kisses .

Give them candy and then send them home .

Being a grandparent has its draw backs .

It is difficult to let our children

Raise their children as they see fit ,

Especially if we disagree with their methods .

Sometimes we do not have the patience 

We thought we had 

And so we look forward to our quiet home 

After the grand kids have returned to their home 

But we also feel sad every time they go outside the door .

We know they will come back and remind us 

We are their loving grandparents .

Because they like happiness .

In your weakness Christ's strength 

Pulls you through every time .

He can take your biggest mistake 

In life and make it work out for the good 

But you need to trust Him .

Our tears in times of grief are actually 

A natural and healthy response 

To what we are going through .

God knows your deepest needs .

There is an image of a small bottle of tears

To capture the extent of our tears that we are shedding .

God surrounds us with the love 

You have revealed in our Savior and enable us to live

Father wake me up so that your live

I would not be facing it alone .

I find strength in God .

I need to trust God ,

Listen to God's  words ,

And obey .

In turn , obeying God brings 

Peace to my heart and my life .

I know God is always beside me 

Even in the fog of an early morning .

Change will not occur 

Without effort .

Be patient , be generous with time 

And show kindness .

Yes , develop the virtues 

Of patience and generosity and kindness always .

I need to practice them 

 Even when I do not feel it .

Jesus is with us with every step on the way .

Remember , faith is taking the first step 

Before you can see the stair case .

The Teacher

You may have brick walls around you .

When you close your eyes ,

You can feel the wall heating up .

There will be many clouds 

Above and around you in your life 

The clouds can make a beautiful sunset .

May your revelation guide me 

To become more like Jesus .

You need to believe 

And stay the course .

You are God's best .

Favor will bring you good things 

When you believe .

Remember , somebody may need 

To hold your ladder

So that you can get over the brick walls 

And not spend time with argument management test .

Life is a test and Jesus is the teacher .

You need to believe and trust Him always .

Your Hands

I thank you Lord with all my heart .

You hear the words out of my mouth .

In the presence of the angels 

You may bless me .

I thank you for your faithfulness 

And love which excel all we ever know of you .

On the day I called you you answered ,

You increased the strength of my soul .

I know the Lord is high up there .

Yet he looks on the lowly 

And the naughty .

Though I walk in the midst of affliction .

You gave me life 

And you frustrate my foes .

You stretch out your special hands 

And saved me .

Your hands will do all things for me .

Your love , oh Lord is eternal  

I do not discard not the work of your hands .

Unexplained Love

We can not comprehend God's love .

We can not understand 

Why He loves us 

But He does .

His love is freely given .

We have done nothing 

To deserve His love .

Yet He lavishly loves us .

Yes God is love .

It is part of who He is .

God has poured out His love on us 

So we can show the same love to others .

Remember , God said as I have loved you

So you must love one another .

Endurance

Accept what is ,

Let Go of what was ,

Have faith in what will be .

To live is to change 

And to be perfect 

Is to change often .

If you have spiritual endurance ,

Means to get back up again ,

Even after you have failed .

If you have done something wrong ,

Do not beat yourself up about it .

Rather , get back up again 

Dust yourself off 

And proceed with renewed promise .
