There is no doubt that my friend

Mary did enter the gates of heaven .

She can dance all night long 

With the best teacher of them all .

There may be many stars in heaven ,

But another one just streaked across the sky 

As a blaze of beauty and that was Mary .

Who can say witch is greater  ?

The steady long living glimmer 

Of many stars 

Or the shooting star .

Mary's star will never set

Tossing And Turning

I have been losing sleep

Tossing and turning on my bed 

At night ,

Trying to work out the issue 

And try to find a solution 

As to what I can do ?

I began fretting about not getting 

Enough rest to handle the challenges

And the Sun is not up ,

In peace I will lie down and sleep ,

I have resigned myself 

Into the hands of God .

In God I have perfect trust ,

Thank God for old friend

I see in the stars , in the river ,

Imitator

I love to be like my dad .

He had an incredible and often 

Unexplainable sense of joy and peace .

He was loyal to family and friends .

He had the one liners

And that special look in his eyes

and he would call all kids smiley .

He had an easy going approach to life .

He was blessed with a spirit 

Of quiet contemplation .

He had a smile of everyone .

I try to imitate the good things 

I learned from my dad 

Like squeaky ears .

I want to follow his example 

Of obedience , perseverance

I know he was not perfect ,

But dad trusted Jesus 

To forgive his shortcomings 

And to love him in spite of them .

Fishing With God

When I go fishing 

It is a set time .

I do not get stressed out .

The fish may come slowly ,

As I begin my morning run 

And the wind begins to blow 

And the air is already with heavy humidity

My run is in direct sunlight .

I found myself longing for the shade

I thought of my grandma 

And the faith she had in me .

She always lifted me up

In the midst of a bad night 

We are given a glimpse

As we sit out back in the dark ,

Persevering Yes Persevering

With chronic pain even the simplest setback 

Can feel like a enemy attacker .

Problem one jabs me from the right .

Problem two jabs me from behind .

Problem three jabs me in the knee 

In the middle of the night .

During these times 

When my strength wanes and immediate 

Relief evades me .

Running and hiding can seem like a good idea ,

But I can not except my pain .

I am learning slowly to rely on God 

To carry me through .

When I need encouragement , comfort

Can often feel like aggressive adversaries .

And you can not see the end of your current battle .

No More Snow

I have experienced the heaviest 

Winter in some years .

My muscles aches from hours

Of shoveling the unrelenting snow .

When I go inside to take a shower ,

I felt my shoveling was like a fruitless effort .

After my shower I gazed out the big window ,

Instead of seeing more work to be done ,

I savored the beauty

Memorial Day

Memorial Day should be a community Experience .

At my age I truly get more sentimental .

I remember individuals 

By name who touched my life ,

My loved ones who are here now

And those who came and those who are gone .

We should remember the unnamed ones 

Who defended our freedom 

And whose debt we live today .

We should all go to a grave site 

And even take a snap shot or 2 for a friend

And walk around the grave sites 

And just stop from time to time and pray .

On Memorial Day 

People will talk about in numbers 

And units and commands ,

But remember military forces

Are made up of individual people 

Doing their duty 

With their own hopes and dreams .

Thanks to them I have my hopes and dreams 

And I will never forget what Memorial Day means 

To me .

I can come home .

Some who served can not come home .

I wish , them all could come home one more time .
