In The Silence

As a child I expected God's voice 

To come booming from parted clouds .

But it never happened .

I assumed God did not care about me .

Now that I am getting older

And so many things can go wrong .

I sometimes can not stop crying .

I go for a run .
Wishing to be alone .

I can just let the tears flow .

I know God is near .

In the silence , God comforts me

Through the warmth of the sun .

In the silence God renews me

With the coolness of the wind ,

And in the silence ,

I sense God saying ,

You are not alone and I love you .

In the silence , God's voice becomes clear .

Remember , in our struggles , frustrations  ,

Dreams and all that is in our hearts .

In the silence God does speak just listen .

Keep God on the throne .

I can not truly sing 

Nor play music in a church .

I have been an usher in my time .

I can not interpret 

The sermon for others .

My ministry is not merely serving 

Inside the church  .

God has many ways for me to serve 

One way is to care for orphans ,

The elderly , the widow or someone in need .

I can be a good listener .

When we serve God with all our heart ,

We will shine like the stars in the sky .

Finally we will hear the king 

Say to us well done , good and faithful 

Servant have a good day 

And at night sit quietly 

And look up at the stars that are bright .

Some stars may fall

Like autumn leaves

And do not forget to pray 

And also have a good night sleep .

He Guides Me

He guides the steps I take

When I was a kid ,

I was never chosen to play 

In any school games .

I was hurt by words 

Others said to me and about me 

Although I tried to strengthen 

Myself in the face of their bullying .

I became angry , quiet and withdrawn .

My mother and grandma told me

To laugh in the outside and cry on the inside .

You can hurt people with the best intentions .

People are hurt by our words 

Sometimes without even knowing it .

Renew In Spirit

We have had disastrous brush fires

Through Cal . and a hurricane Florence 

Along the east coast of the US .

Lives were lost and farms and ranches 

And homes were completely destroyed .

Many not only lost their homes 

But also their livelihood .

The land itself was affected .

Not one blade of grass 

Was left and the strong wind blew

The topsoil away .

Remember , what God can do 

For land and trees .

God will do for us

In time of stress ,

When God feels far away

And we feel burned out  ,

We can speak honestly to God 

About our fears .

When we accept God's love

I have spent time with brilliant 

Kids and young people .

They are full of life .

And offering a since of his presence

While the presence of a security camera ,
