I Still Believe

Sometimes I have doubts .

Even though I know in my heart 

That God is real and trust worthy ,

At times I still wrestle with questions 

Like , Lord are you there ?

Do you really care 

That I am going through these difficulties ?

I have been upset and bewildered ,

And I have asked why Lord ?

After calming down today ,

I feel as if God was asking me ,

Do you still love me ?

Do you still believe in me ?

A Grandfather's Love

You are grandpa's big guy ,

You get to wear grandpa's

Big cowboy hat 

Out of grandpa's love for him ,

He wants something better 

For his big guy's life 

Than what grandpa could provide .

You will never know all the things

Remember , God wants something 

Better for all of us .

When Do I Run

When do I run to the Lord ?

Is it only when I am afraid ?

Is it only when I have a need ?

My honest answer humbles me .

I often seek God in times 

Of want or times of fear .

But when things are going well 

I sometimes forget to feel delight 

That God is always with me .

A Message Of Hope

To offer a helpful message of hope ,

A Solid Teacher

I am thankful for solid teaching ,

But I am also thankful for the many 

People who have been hands on teachers .

They have shown me by their lives

Jesus Promises

Jesus promises that he would always

A Sincere Conversation

   

As I was running one day ,

I stopped and had a sincere conversation 

With a lady .

When we stopped talking ,

She said thanks for the moments

Of peace and for listening to me .

Though brief our conversation 

Was a true connection .

Later that evening I was blessed

To see a spectacular sunset 

Of a golden yellow color .

As I sat and looked up at it .

I knew God was watching over me .

A Guide

The Lord picks everyone 

Who is faithful to be His very own .

You need to believe He answers 

Your prayer .

True faith shows the reality

It is the things we can not see .

Remember whatever you ask for in prayer ,

While some of my travel 

Situations on my bike 

Can be frustrating ,

It reminds me what important ,

But not all of us are going 

In the right direction .

It is good to have , receive 

And give the direction 

That leads to eternal life .

Depression

If ever you suffer a severe bout

Of depression ,

After the crisis ,

You should center your thoughts 

On your heavenly father 

Who's care and presence 

Is steadfast during those difficult days .

You should thank God for your friends and family 

Who helped you by demonstrating unconditional love 

And strength .

Give thanks to all the people 

Who prayed for your healing and recuperation .

But most of all thank God for sustaining you 

When you are incapable of sustaining yourself .

Go To Church

Go to church .

You have ant nothing more important to do .

Everything else can wait .

You have an appointment with Jesus Christ 

And His Word and Sacrament .

Serving your neighbor , serving Jesus is good .

You should do that .

But first things first .

You are not saved by serving .

You are saves by Jesus ,

Who imparts His salvation 

To you in His Word .

Go sit at His feet and rest in the Gospel .

That is the good portion 

It will not be taken away from you .

After having heard , get up and go to work .

The Word Of God

How often do we forget to consult

The word of God in important matters ?

Is it just plain to ignore it ?

We make judgment based on our reason 

Or emotions or the words of other sinners 

Instead of consulting or being

Informed by God's Word .

This can lead to a lot of trouble .

It can lead us to sin .

It can lead us to idolatry 

And to trust in false gods .

I ask God to give me peace

To Worship

Week after week we return 

To the place where God's word 

Is proclaimed , blessing and the law 

And the gospel .

There is a God in our midst .

There is Jesus on His throne ,

The alter present with and for His people 

In His true body and blood .

There He is teaching us ,

And feeding us with Himself .

This is the first order in the Christian week .

Remember , for man does not live by bread alone ,

But by every Word that comes from the mouth of God .

Testing True Contentment

There is a better way to live .

When the longings in our hearts 

Threaten to send us on a desperate ,

Futile quest for satisfaction ,

We can remember to turn to God for refuge ,

Remember ourselves that apart from Him we have nothing .

As our eyes stop looking for satisfaction 

Out there to gaze 

Instead on God's beauty ,

We find ourselves finally 

Tasting true contentment 

Like a life of basking in joy 

Of God's presence ,

Walking with Him each moment

What Is A Friend

In my own heart's troubled times ,

I know that the Lord offers me friendship .

All of Jesus' titles a Savior , Son of God ,

Lamb of God and a friend is not one that always 

Comes to mind .

What is a friend ?

Not someone who is coerces ,

But someone who surprises us 

With generous love without 

Necessarily expecting an equal 

Or perfect response .

Someone who gently walks next to us 

Sustaining us in our troubles 

And distress and joys .

Someone like Jesus , whose love is steady 

And whose touch is grace .

Lord Jesus , I am grateful for your friendship .

Guide me to be a good friend to others .

We all need friends when we needs .

A Prayer

A prayer is not a monologue ,

But a dialogue .

God's voice in response 

To mine is its most essential part .

A prayer opens to God 

And it is the means by which the soul

My mom's over all action impressed

Upon me that her faith was real 

And she wanted everyone she met 

To know about Christ's saving power .

She did not consider herself a minister 

But a teacher of Christ's teaching .

She would pray with those 

Who needed prayer .

She encouraged those who were discouraged .

She simply did what needed to be done 

To help others and share her faith .

God has mercy after every mistake .

Wormy Lives

The contrasts of the works of the flesh .

With the fruit of the Spirit .

These works of the flesh 

Are like wormy fruit .

The wormy fruits are not desirable 

And neither are lives ruled 

By works of the flesh .

Wormy lives are detestable 

By those who live them and by those 

Who live with them .

In contrast , when our days are filled 

With love , peace , kindness , generosity 

And the other fruits of the Spirit ,

Life is a joy to us and to those around us .

Kneeling

Always try to remember every great

Moment of God can be traced

To a kneeling figure .

When the righteous cry for help ,

The Lord hears and delivers 

Them out of all their troubles .

You need to believe when you are 

Serious troubled .

Your prayers to the Lord 

Will rescue you .

Always look to the Lord for help 

And wait confidently for God to save you 

And God will certainly hear you .

When a loved one is in trouble  ,

I find myself praying while brushing 

My teeth , riding my bike .

I find myself in a constant state of praying .

It is a new stage in my relationship with Christ .

He is always there ,

But how often do we take the opportunity 

To reach to him in prayer .

I realize a new that although 

We have done our parts 

In raising her ,

She belongs to the Lord .

I will take every advantage 

Of the countless opportunities

To go to my Lord and Savior in prayer .

Yes there is fireworks of heavenly

I pray to the Lord

The Game

Today , Jesus calls us to follow him .

What a joy it is to follow Jesus'

Example and reach out in love to those 

In need to feed those who are hungry  ,

Provide for those who need clothing 

And visit those who are lonely .

These are the times when we fail 

To follow our leader ,

But Jesus never kicks us off the game .

Rather , Jesus forgives us and tells us 

To try again 

Without the promise that he will be 

With us and help us to follow him 

More faithfully 

In the game of life ,

Jesus is the greatest leader to follow .

Offering forgiveness to someone 

Who comes to us in sorrow 

From their wrong doing 

Begins the process of releasing us 

And them from the bitterness 

And pain that can cling over wrongs

The forest remind me of the people 

Who make us God's church .

We all have scares and imperfections .

We make mistakes

Instead of condemning 

Those who make mistakes ,

We can offer a listening ear 

And a helping hand .

Together we can become a community

In confession you will find rest 

For your soul .

Jesus promises this to us .

Do it and take what He gives 

And that is the rest for the soul .

Come Holy Spirit help me to stay
