Take A Moment

When I take a moment every day 

And quiet myself in prayer

I am in the presence of God 

Who created me on purpose  .

The one who gave me life .

It can change my whole day 

To be assured that there is one

Who knows me and yes sees me 

For who I really am .

Rejoice Today

Rejoice today to be a part of your 

Congregation .

As someone aptly describe ,

The Body Of Christ  is like a bank  ,

Most of the time we are investing ,

But there are times 

When we need to draw out 

Of the account .

To be held up 

By another is a gift  ,

Enabling the fuller expression of God’s love 

In Christ .

In the end .

Two are always better than one 

And the threefold cord is not quickly broken

Reputation

With damaged reputation before God ,

We stand in need of His Grace ,

It is only such goodness in Jesus 

That restores our relationship CD with Him .

It is that same grace that transforms us 

To be and become instruments  of His peace 

Forever looked upon through 

The forgiving eves of Jesus ,

Even turned our from the cross ,

We are given strength and blessings 

To look upon others with the same love 

We ourselves have revived .

God I Need You

When you need company go for a walk

With God .

When you need someone to talk to 

Turn to God .

When you are alone take God’s hand 

And you again not alone .

When you need God the most

He is already there .

You should never back down 

Or give up 

And never lose faith. .

Remember God can do the impossible  .

Your life may not be perfect 

But you are blessed  .

We all know sometimes 

The best thing 

You can do for someone is pray 

For them and let God do for them

What you and I can not .

All Told

All told , taking anything that does not 

Rightfully 

Belong to us an affront to the goodness

Of God .

Out of His grace ,

He provides for us in aspects of our lives ,

Granting us possessions we neither truly

Deserve nor fully earn .

It is out of that same largesse 

That His forgiveness also poured out 

When we repent of transgressing 

His commands .

To think that He provides 

For our every need materially 

And spiritually is a mystery to deep

To fully grasp .

We are blessed on our journey  .

We do not make it alone .

The saints of old even now ,

Are cheering us on .

The road sign of God’s word 

Is our sure delight ,

Affirming our every step  .

Water and food stations 

Are in sufficient supply ,

Given at Baptism 

And at His Table of grace  .

As sure as Jesus has set us 

On this course ,

Do Not Postpone

Do not postpone talking to God 

Because he turned water into wine .

Do not postpone enjoyment .

Do not postpone a smile  .

That you want to do for someone

No Sense

It feels like I am listening to God 

But things in my life are just 

Not making sense .

I accept the bad as consequences 

For sun .

This keeps me from investing 

In the things that God is calling 

Me to do right now .

When these times come 

Remember that the God of all flesh

To restore good things to me 

So I need to listen and obey ,

Even when life is not making sense  .

Tightrope

Trust God to answer our prayers 

Can seem like walking on a tightrope  .

When our focus and allegiance 

Are divided between God and our world ,

Doubt will creep in and begin to wobble  .’

We must get stable again 

Before we are able to move forward .

When we start to wobble ,

We fix our eyes on our Savior ,

Who extends  His arm on the cross 

To help us reach the other side .

A successful tightrope walker relies 

On his training 

And does not dare let thoughts of doubt 

Or defeat take over his mind .

We must rely on God’s past faithfulness 

And dare not doubt that God 

Is at work in our lives 

To answer our prayers

Prove It

We sometimes are like enemies of God 

When we ask God to prove Himself .

We hold on to guilt and forget 

That we have God’s favor .

We forget God’s past faithfulness .

We need to spend time 

Reading God’s word 

To let God reveal  who He really is ?

We are no longer enemies of God .

We are His children.

We are guaranteed our Father’s favor .

Remember , when God helps and comfort us 

It brings Him glory and puts 

Our enemies to shame .

Never Fade Away

I can not hold you in my arms  

And time only adds to my pain .

I am so tired and not to strong  .

My heart keeps reaching for you  .

My Brothers

Though I can not choose how God works ,

I have the assurance that my hope 

Will not put me to shame .

God’s love has been poured into my heart 

Through the Holly Spirit  .

This is the gift He has given to remind

Take Heart

With the water of Baptism 

And the gift of faith ,

 Jesus lives in your heart  .

When Jesus says to take heart  ,

He reminds you that He is not only 

In the same boat with you 

But He actually dwells

To have a lasting effect on you  .

There may be days  

When you feel like you are sinking  ,

It Weighs Us Down

God cares very deeply for us.

Life’s Problems

When we are faced with our life’s problems. ,

We can be spiritually blinded 

To all that God is doing in our lives 

Every day .

When our focus is on our problems 

We just only see the worldly things 

That are stacked up against us .

When we are reminded that we have a God.  

Who truly loves us so much 

That he would  allow His own Son to die 

For our sins 

And rise victoriously for our salvation ,

We can not ever doubt  that He is at work 

In the midst of our problems

And He is always with us .

There are days when I push  myself ,

Because no one is going to do it for me .

I always try to do good for others 

And call them Smiley  .

It will all come back to me someday 

In unexpected ways .

I know waiting is better 

Than forcing things to happen .

You do not have to be brilliant ,

Rich , beautiful or perfect 

You just need to care .

Good brothers and sisters help you  find

Up in and out .

Christ’s Eyes

Christ is the lens 

Through which we read all of Scripture .

Christ shows how all things

Point to Him as the Messiah 

Especially His suffering and death .

The cross , an instrument of torture

Is the place of. His glory

And our redemption .

 Are our compasses .

When we have lost our way , 

We need only look to the Scriptures 

And the cross of Christ 

To find our way again .

Our life is just as secure ,

as we are connected

To the vine that is Christ  ,

Prayer, His Word, Fellowship with others .

Each  keeps us connected to Him 

And the life He freely gives .

Who we are is intimately tied to Him 

And  His love for us .

Be Happy

Be happy to make the trip 

To the table of the Lord ,

You do not have it all together .

One need only come in humility 

And faith to receive what the Lord gives 

By way of His gifts .

Indeed what a strange  thing 

Our Lord chooses to meet us this way ,

Through  such simple forms of bread

And wine ,

Extending to us His forgiveness 

And grace ,

Let us go there often 

Following not so much our nose

Connected To Jesus

I am praying for all today .

As for your pastor and concretion .

It is what the church has always

Done in time of distress .

What Do We Need

What do we need to make ourselves  right ?

Jesus who peers deeply into our sinful 

Hearts .

 Though we live in dissonance 

And discord with God’s word .

The Lord in grace forgives us .

Redirecting our purposes and resource so

In Him is rightly returned to Him 

And others in thankfulness ,service

And pause .

Avail yourself this day of the same strength 

And blessings .

Our God and Savior are ever ready 

To come  to our aid .

The staff of His Word ,

The water of Baptism and confirmation

Full and free .

As for traveling companions  to afford us 

Both  accountability  and assurance ,

In His Care

We are always serving for peace ,

Something to bring serenity 

Both  to our steps  we make by day 

And our sleep at night .

With sin and it’s consequences 

Ever ready to unsettle us .

Peace is a commodity consistently 

Sought but rarely found .

Truth be told it can be found 

Only in our Savior .

Who freely forgives us our sins .

To know we do not deserve is a source 

Of immense comfort .

To rise each day in the hope of God’s grace 

To to lie down each evening 

In the Savior’s forgiveness

Brings peace beyond measure 

Because we know we are awake 

And asleep in His care .

No True Losses

There are true losses in Christ ,

Except for our sin that was crucified with Christ .

Once for all on Calvary’s cross .

This is where our Heavenly Father 

Takes even the worse ,

Tilling it under with grace 

So  that what comes forth 

Is a garden of beauty .

Not all things in our life time ends well .

But God is gracious ,

Turning the compost of our lives 

Into fertile soil  

Producing fertile fruit for Him 

And His kingdom .

I Often Neglect

I often neglect to tell God 

How I am doing , because I feel 

That my struggles are insignificant 

Compared to the hardships 

Others are experiencing 

A Around the world 

But when I do this ,

I ignore the fact that God 

Wants a relationship 

With me .

God wants to know 

What is causing me pain 

Or what is weighting. On my heart .

God even wants to hear about my day

Most Of My Life

For most of my life  ,

I have thanked  God for. The things 

God has created 

Like the earth , the animals , the stars 

With the mentality 

That it is in the past 

But as I watch my plants   Blooming .

I am reminded that God  is creating  .

I find new blessings when I see 

A colorful sunset ,

A falling star , a eclipses ,

A healing with a troubled mind 

Or a new start after forgiveness .

A multitude  of blessings 

Surround me as God’s creation

Sorrow And Suffering

Trusting God amidst  sorrow and suffering 

Is difficult .

I still have days where it is hard 

 To get out of bed 

And it felt like I was like a hamster on a wheel 

Going through the motions 

And oblivious to my surroundings .

Starting my morning with prayer ,

Sometimes my heartache remains ,

But with time and God’s help 

The pain of losing my wife 

Has numbed and my relationship  

With God has grown 

Because Gods is always with me .

Through everything I face 

Oh I miss her face

As I Press 0n

As I press on 

I decided to clip my stems 

Of sadness with the sword of the Spirit  ,

Which is the word of God  (Eph 6:17 )

In rhythm with my snipping 

Of the literal thorns , 

I repeated Psalm 23 .

With each cut and phrase ,

I felt myself step out of the earthly

And spiritual valley of briars .

I am smelling the sweet fragrance  of pine ,

I looked up at the sun drenched trees 

Swaying as living psalm 

 To the Creator .

God’s creation reminds me 

That reciting and trusting 

In God’s word sustains all of us 

And giving all of us hope .

I Am A Sparrow

Often I feel lonely , forgotten 

And unimportant 

But that does not mean I am lost .

As I sit outside I can celebrate 

The sparrows and my self 

Because the Lord knows 

And sees me ,

No matter how insignificant .

I may consider my self to be 

I have prove Jesus died for me .

God ultimately did give me my identity 

And declared my worth .

Just as God does for the sparrow

Faith

Faith does not always take you away 

From a problem  .

Faith will take you through the problem  .

Faith does not take away the pain 

It gives you the ability 

To handle the pain .

Faith does not take you out of a storm 

It calms you down in the midst  

Of your storm .

Your prayers he increases your faith .

When God only delays

He increases your patience .

So pray and have faith ,

Rejected

Jesus loved people who were rejected 

By society .

He demonstrated for us how we should live 

Especially when we encounter a person 

Who is struggling 

To find acceptance .

People look at the outward appearance ,

But the Lord looks at the heart .

As we look to improve  our hearts 

And our interactions with people 

Who are searching for acceptance .

Thank you God for not rejecting 

My prayers or withholding

Question God

When we go through difficult situation 

And unwelcome seasons  ,

We feel broken and shattered  .

In those  moments we often question God .

We forget that in our brokenness ,

God can mold and shape us 

And ultimately bring us ever stronger

Than before .

Our experience can then become 

 Testimony so that others 

May also have hope .

Even when it feels 

Like we are being broken 

God is always building us up .

As I Stand Alone

As I stand alone in the cold gray dawn

And I choose to focus 

On what God has done ,

I simply enjoy God’s sky painting .

For God’s gift of beauty. 

I will keep some of these 

Less than ideal pictures 

To remind me of how to look at others .

Do the flaws I notice 

Distract me from the beauty 

With witch God  has created  each person ?

I hope not .

I want to see people the way God does .

It is time for all of us to do that 

And this world will be a better place .

God Set Me Free

 

After so many years of struggling 

To help take the pain away 

From someone I still love .

The Lord has been showing me 

Some simple ways

To give these intrusions  to God .

Like saying something like 

 Thank you Jesus 

That I am here and not there

Or praise you that my life 

Is so much better now  .

God stops the memory  

And brings me back to the present .

I am amazed and delighted 

To be able to replace the bad memories 

Of the past with God’s refreshing 

Love and blessings in my life today .

I feel the Lord has set me free .

Share The Joy

There has been sad times before in my life  

And there have been  others  since  then ,

But at that time 

I needed to know that God was with me .

I have resolved to be more sensitive 

To what is going on in others lives 

So that if someone is sad 

I can empathize 

Because I am older than most of my Smileys

And if one of my Smileys is happy ,

I can rejoice with them .

When I pay attention 

To others feelings 

We can build a community 

That is present and supportive 

In all circumstances 

We all need to know
