Never Lonely

I found myself alone in our home .

Nearly every day my wife wishes to sleep .

My daughter and grandson are away .
It was and is difficult for me 

To adjust to my new kind of loneliness these days .

Thank God I have television to fill up my times 

When I do not work .

I may not say anything about it 

But loneliness weighs heavily upon me .

Every new day can bring new worries .

You all know me .

However I praise our living God 

For not leaving me alone .

Everyday God communicates with me 

As I read from the Bible .

God will never leave me 

Nor forsake me .

He will comfort and strengthen me .

I place my worries in God's hands .

I do pray for others .

I grew more into my faith 

As I learned to trust God more and more .

This brought amazing peace into my heart .

Her Pain

She walks around in her pain .

She walks each day in a tunnel 

Of her grief .

I think , there are days 

She even felt unaware

Of what was going on around her 

I think she was blinded by the pain .

She could not see God .

She feels weighed down by the pain 

But now she can find hope and comfort 

In the reality that Jesus is alive 

And at work in the world 

And in her and in all of us .

Although we all face heart ache and pain ,

We all can welcome Christ 

To walk with us in our tunnel of pain .

Like the light of the world 

He can bring rays of hope 

To brighten our fog .

A Gift Of Friendship

We promised to be friends forever .

I was hurt when he moved away .

My grandma consoled me .

She encouraged me by telling me

You have honored your promise 

Of friendship 

And if or when your friend returns ,

I am sure you will remain friends .

This was my first lesson in covenant friendship .

I still grieve even today the loss of my friends 

But I am grateful to God for whatever

Time I had with them .

In Anger

I was told that someone 

Had spoken negatively about me .

I became furious and immediately 

Went to confront the person .

As I was dashing off 

I remembered to pursue peace 

With everyone .

I turned back to what I wanted to do 

So I went back home immediately .

I decided to obey the words of God 

And not to fight .

Reading , studying the word of God 

Helps me to behave in ways 

That pleases God .

So I went fishing .

I want to give you hope  .

Hope is like a golden 

Cord connecting you to heaven .

The cord helps you hold 

Your head up high , even when 

Many of your trials are buffing you .

I will never leave your side

But hope lifts your perspective 

From going under water to

Seeing the clear sky above water .

We will travel together

Oh Those Dandelions

I have a bumper crop of dandelions .

While I wanted to cry .

One day I was looking out the window .

Sawyer got beside me .

He said grandpa .

Look at all the beautiful yellow flowers .

Can we go pick them .

No wonder Jesus loved the little children .

I have been so focused on the negative 

That I did not see the beauty .

Now I see I have more time to pray 

And reading God's word .

Then I have ever had before .

How many times have I dismissed

A situations or people based on my 

Negative perception of them ?

We tend to see what we look for .

If I do not see God's glory 

In all things ,

I need a change of perspective 

And find the glory 

In all of God's creations .

A Good Student

I will say I am getting older .

But the older I become the more 

I am able to see God's guidance 

Through out my life .

I think God's authority is best

Seen in the rear view mirror .

This does not cause me to be

Have you ever enjoyed 

The morning prayers on a patio 

With coffee or green tea in an easy chair ?

Morning prayers can be said anywhere .

The thing about the morning 

Is that if we put off our prayer time 

Always thinking we will do it later .

We can do it later .

Well , pretty soon the day is shot 

And we are to tired to pray .

My grandma never was tired

Take time to show respect 

Do not forget to give someone a deposit .

Rest For The Weary

I watched the heavily laden 

Branches of the blueberry bush 

As the plump juicy berries were removed .

A blueberry bush does not suffer 

From the same type of burdens that human do 

But like blueberry bushes ,

We can become weak

And non productive 

As we are weighed down by burdens .

When we try to cope with problems 

All by ourselves ,

Our health and lives are affected 

By worry , fear ,anger and sadness .

The burdens that weigh us down 

Might be unmanageable , work load

Financial worries , marital problems ,

Alcohol , drugs , an illness .

We need help in shedding our load .

When we are weary ,

We can trust Jesus .

Who promise to give us rest .

He may have been a coach

Who never got paid 

But he was a hero to me .

He always said never give up .

When you wanted to give up

As I was fishing on the bank 

Of the river 

With the morning sunlight glinting

Then a thought dropped into my mind .

Listen to the river .

When you talk to your pastor during the week ,

I saw a double rainbow .

It was so bright and so big .

God holds the light of the world .

For his mom .

His mother has changed her mind

Open the door to Jesus .

There is no conditional love

With God .

I know I am loved .

God is not like people  .

Nothing I do can change 

God's love for me .

God is way into me .

I am God's child.

The child God loves .

He will listen to all my needs 

And prayers .

I know I am dearly loved .

God's face is always 

Turned toward me always .

All my chains have fallen off ,

My heart is free ,
