God Is Waiting

I know that only Christ 

Could replace my desperation 

With peace .

God has not promised us 

A life free from stress and worry ,

But God will never leave us .

When we bring our worries to God 

And trust that God can carry 

Us through life’s storms ,

Our joy need not fluctuate 

With our circumstances .

God is waiting for us 

To hand our worries 

Over so that we can find peace .

When God Looks At Me

When God looks at me .

God does not see all my imperfection 

But sees someone created with intricate

Talents and abilities .

God created my inmost being ,

You did knit me together 

In my mother’s womb .

I praised you because I am fearfully 

And wonderfully made .

God thinks we are all beautiful 

No matter what others think .

Remember when we look in the mirror

We can remember that we are seeing 

God’s picture perfect work of art .

Remember God forgives us 

When we fail to see the unique  beauty 

In ourselves and others 

When we share a simple hug .

Growing Old

As I have grown older 

I have come to believe 

That it is our job

As good neighbors

To listen to  our brothers 

And our sisters 

And embrace them 

 As much as possible  .

Jesus exhorts us to be peacemakers 

In our interaction and relationships.

Let us not become weary  

In doing  good ,

I believe at the proper time 

We need to stand our ground

And we will reap a harvest 

If we do not give up .

The Entry Into Our Lives

We all can welcome  Jesus 

As he comes into our lives every day ,

He is our Lord and Savior ,

Our personal deliverer ,

Who conquered death 

 And called each of us 

Out of a tomb  .

We can trust him every day 

To deliver us ,

Bring peace to our minds

And lead us to an abundant  life .

Stubbornness

Stubbornness , lies and arrogance 

Distracts us from God’s divine plan

And cause us to over look 

The suffering of others .

But the Lord is our true source ,

On whom we can rely .

And our greatest hope is to persevere 

In word and deed like prayer and action 

Asking God to forgive and renew us 

By the Holy Spirit so that we may

Be in harmony with God

And in harmony with all of God’s people .

Nothing Is Too Small

There are many ways to serve God .

We help make our world a better place

When we live God’s words 

And do God’s work .

Not only do we transform the lives of others

But we transform our own lives as well .

People often strive to serve 

And imitate good leaders ,

And in the Lord we have the best leader

Of all .

We should always try to serve the Lord well .

When you and I serve Jesus  ,

No act like a hug or a smile is to small  .

To Accept

As I have accepted unplanned times

Of rest and relaxation ,

God has given me peace  .

I am not rushing through my days  ,

And I have the glorious privilege 

Of spending time studying God’s word 

And praying ..

I have a more leisurely pace to my days  .

I have been able to open up new 

Opportunities to serve 

To just listen and to give hugs 

And to help friends , brothers and sisters  .

I have found God’s peace 

In the unplanned moments .

People like Us

Words of hatred and superiority

Can slip into our conversation ,

Demeaning not only the subject 

Of our talk

But God’s word as well .

A word fitly spoken is like apples 

Of gold in a setting of silver .

All people were made in God’s image 

And deserve to be  treated fairly 

And honorably  .

I have found if we look deeply

Inside others ,

We may find people very much like 

Ourselves .

A Quiet Place

The Bible records  that Jesus 

Often went off 

To a solitary place to pray .

Our Lord and Savior 

Took time alone 

To speak with God  .

That loving relationship 

Is open to me as well .

I realized that my devotional time 

Is not a routine 

That  I  must leave behind 

When I go on vacation .

It is a precious opportunity 

To thank God for all my blessings , 

Speak whatever burden 

Is on my heart ,

And I ask God for guidance every day .

It Took Time

It took time ,

But I came to realize 

That though my prayers 

It did not reverse the outcome 

Of some situations in my life ,

My prayers did change me .

Prayers help me deal 

With the passing of loved ones 

And encouraged me to truly love 

Those who are here with me better.

Prayers  gave me the ability 

To open my heart 

And mind to more compassion 

And more hope 

And more happy possibilities 

Even after I cry .
