The 72 Team

The big band played the beat of the horse

When the beautiful 72 stallions  ran

From  the fields onto the floors

Of many arenas through out the state .

They kept their heads held high

Even when they didn't have the ball .

They ran with total spirit .

Their spirit was never broken .

They were never totally road

But someone did hold back

On their reins 

Once and a while or they would have ran

With the wind but no matter what

They were totally free to play

The way that it was to be .

It was marvelous just to see them run

Out of only time but never their spirit

Or their freedom  .

The old and the new Rustlers

Could never even steal their special memories

Or the joy in their eyes

As they ran

As I finish this with no time to spare

The 72 stallions and their fans

Are still having fun after all these 40 years .
