As a young boy , I wanted to hear
All the stories my aunt and uncle
Would tell when they would let me play cards.
After a while they would say go away ,
They did not know that listening is important .
Listening allows the other person
To express , understand and appreciate
Their experiences whether its the excited chatter
Of a young child who is just trying to fit in
Or the repetitious stories of an aging uncle or aunt or grandparent .
Come Lord Jesus spend some time with me ,
So I can be ok with my aunts and uncles and grandparents .
