God defines family
As those who hear
The word of God
And act on it .
This faith family he describes
Is well beyond blood relatives .
Jesus opens the door to all of us .
He tells us that if we put God's
Word into action by caring
For the poor and marginalized ,
If we forgive those who hurt us ,
If we show mercy and compassion
Toward the hungry , the thirsty ,
The lonely and the outcast ,
If we turn the other cheek ,
We become members
Of the large family of man .
So Merry Christmas to everyone .
