This Gift

The gift at Christmas time 

That is the greatest one 

We all may give

Is a friendly smile that helps 

To make life easier to live .

So call someone smiley 

And you will see on and feel 

On both faces ,

A kindly thought , a helping hand 

And an open heart and an open ear 

To show someone you care ,

To let someone know how much you 

Mean to them to have them near .

The greatest gift at Christmas time 

Cost not a cent to buy .

It is being a good friend

As days and months and years go by .

To offer a shoulder 

When someone needs a lift 

And so lets pray 

This Christmas day .

So let us not forget these gifts
