The weight of the 21 century world is heavy .

Our personal burdens combined with the collective troubles 

Of humanity .

That are shouted nonstop from news outlets and social media ,

Temp us to despair .

But this temptation is not unique to this century .

Yes , the saints who went before us may

Not have navigated the land mines 

Of social media ,

But they endured weighty troubles 

Of their own times .

So let us keep praying 

For better times for us all .
