When I am hurting , God is near ,
God is never nearer to me
Than when I am suffering .
The suffering is not a punishment from God .
It forced me to stop relying
On my own strength and abilities
As a source for my worth .
I learned to lean on God
And the powerful truths
Of the Bible ,
God loves me .
God has good plains for my life .
God will not hold my sins against me .
Those truths anchored my soul
Amid the storm - tossed waves .
As I navigate the sadness
And sorrow of my life .
My prayer life grows and deepens
As God fills me with hope every day .
