My Mother

I learned about love from my mother .

She was a constant presence in my life .

She was supportive in the low points 

Of my life .

She corrected me when needed 

And she counseled me 

When asked 

And always with an attitude 

Of unfailing love .

She always demonstrated 

To me how to show love to others 

By accepting them and treating 

Them all with respect .

I am a recipient 

Of God's steadfast love .

I feel I am now in charge of sharing 

The love I have received from my mother

With others .
