When I Sit Outside

I am fascinated by the wonders

Of the natural world ,

The delicate structure of one leaf ,

A rainstorm with loud claps 

Of thunder and the flashes of light .

The way ants march along my patio 

To an unknown destination .

I enjoy listening to the variety 

Of sounds made by the birds 

That fly by

And how they sing melodies 

To one another .

When I pause a moment to notice

All of the life around me .

I am owed by God's creative power .
