My Grandson

When my grandson is heartbroken ,

I can hear my grandma telling me 

When your grandson is not up to par 

And feeling so unhappy 

Always listen to him 

And tell him God knows

All about it .

I wonder ,

How will that be comforting ?

Then it occurred to me 

That God is not simply 

Aware of the events 

In our lives .

He compassionately 

Sees into our souls 

And knows how they affect us .

He understands that little things 

Can feel like big things depending 

On our age , past wounds

Or lack of resources .

So I will always pray .
